Perhaps not the textbook start to a taper week, but I wanted to stretch the legs at least once this week before resting up for Saturday's 100k. So decided to attack the Power Hour PB. New PB by 223 meters. Hopefully the confidence boost from hitting this will offset any physical issues from pushing it hard 5 days before an ultra-distance. Feeling fit and strong (albeit this felt at my limit) with all the distance training. Hopefully one day I can target 16k in an hour.

Really impressive bro.
The type of “first time” 2k that causes extreme envy in those of us who have been grinding for years and will never even get close!

I probably need to train a higher stroke rate at the 2k distance, to get my times down a little more.
I'm not sure if I asked before, what's your weight and height?

Thanks Sasha, I went off last month's CTC to judge my pacing, 2 secs quicker than the second 1500m which felt just as miserable as this. Served me well. I'm 6'2 and 94kg, so....

Thanks Kerry, without doing anything too structured in training, because I couldn't make my mind up what my goals were, training at various stroke rates has proved a useful tool, even just throwing in 10 or so fast pulls on a steady day. 34/35's don't feel so alien then.

This seems very impressive to me. I have not used the Ski-erg that much but when I have I know I am a lot slower on it than the rower. It's an underused fitness tool despite it always being in Crossfit Games - just hasn't caught on like the rower did.

Ha ha ha, your power to weight must make for impressive reading though!
I think from memory, on comparison you opened up with a quicker 1500m than me, I only used the second one because they came after the sprints.
