Had another go at the internal Team Oarsome challenge - 2k, as a team member beat my time by 1.7s.
I was very convinced I can beat his time as well, because my recent 2k was more or less controlled and I felt I could give a little more, so I decided to give it a try, even if I have to go for another 2k next month for the CTC 🤣🤣

Race plan this time was nearly the same as in the last 2k. Start a bit faster (target 1:38.5), settle into a slightly slower pace for the middle (target 1:39.5, missed it a bit), open up the last 200m.
Could beat his time by 0.2s 💪🏻💪🏻😄 and got another 2s off of my recent 2k PB - but this was really tough. Not sure, if I have another second in me, when I'm fully recovered and rested. Will see that in March 😎

Great result Sascha. I'll have to give this a go tomorrow morning, but I'm not going to beat this, or come close to it.

Two seconds sounds easy enough when you think about it, but it's shocking how much effort it takes.

Tried to stay in control, but this one was far more on the edge compared to the one of last week. After ca. 1,2k I felt fatigue creeping up, this time also in my back, what was a new feeling for me 😄
I could keep it under control and stay strong, but at a much higher cost this time.

This one was only a 5 Watts difference, but it felt so much harder. This is why I'm not sure how much I can improve next month 😅
Good luck for your attempt, I hope you get a good sleep and focused mindset 💪🏻

Me too 😅
Thanks again. Unfortunately I pulled something in my back during this 2k, today morning I didn't feel very good, stiff and bit hurting.
But it eased up over the day and my gym session today was fabulous 💪🏻
The last 3-4 training weeks were really great! Hope I will stay injury free and it goes on like this 😄

Perhaps not the textbook start to a taper week, but I wanted to stretch the legs at least once this week before resting up for Saturday's 100k. So decided to attack the Power Hour PB. New PB by 223 meters. Hopefully the confidence boost from hitting this will offset any physical issues from pushing it hard 5 days before an ultra-distance. Feeling fit and strong (albeit this felt at my limit) with all the distance training. Hopefully one day I can target 16k in an hour.

Well done Rob. It's a great finish so you possibly are closer than you realise with a bit more confidence in the first half. BIG jump in PB 👏👏

I'm not a fan of tapering, but that is just me, so hopefully it'll be good for you to have done this.
