Today a new entry in this thread 😎

The monthly team challenge forced me to go for a 2k TT and so I did today. Otherwise I would have shifted this one to end of April very likely 😅
~3,3k warmup to et going.
I set my season goal to sub 6:40 - <1:40/500, so I settled in at slightly above 1:39 for the first 500 to build a cushion, then backed off to ~1:40 and opened for the last 300 to go.
15min slow meters for cooldown.

Code: Select all

Time	Meters	Pace	Watts	Cal/Hr	S/M	♥️
6:39.0	2,000m	1:39.7	353	1513	29	173
1:39.2	500m	1:39.2	359	1533	28	171
1:40.4	1,000m	1:40.4	346	1490	29	174
1:40.1	1,500m	1:40.1	349	1500	30	175
1:39.2	2,000m	1:39.2	359	1533	31	172
It was hard, but I felt surprisingly good after some minutes. Quads burning only a little, breathing normalized fast.
Probably a tad faster is possible, but this time I first wanted to get my goal in and not risk a crash and burn 😁
It gives me a 6s PB - satisfied!

Yeah Sasha! I am so happy for you. I knew you could go lower and figured prob sub 6:40 and now you did it! This is a great milestone and you worked hard to get in this shape. I like the pacing too.

Wow, so many replies, thank you much!

My last PB was already nearly a year old (26. Feb '23), no 2k this season done till today. The team challenge forced me to go for it, this was the reason I voted for the 2k!
As I had sub 6:40 as target, I really focused to stick to the plan and not overcook it in the first 500. I felt strong after 500, but I backed a bit, off as this was my plan. After next two 500s slightly above 1:40 and feeling well, I knew I will get it, but I still held the power level under control to not crash. Started to feel a little burn in the legs now, but not very much. With 300m to go I started to increase the power level to get back to 1:38/39 which was about right to get it with full control 👌🏻
Next attempt will be a bit more aggressive - but also a bit risky 😁😅

I wanted sub 18:30 for the 5km, in the end smashed it. Felt in control all the way even with the high HR, even had enough to do a little "sprint" at the end. I mean going from 1:50 to 1:43s so not exactly amazing pace but an increase nonetheless.

Well done, and dropping it seven seconds is a really big difference in my view.
