Just a wrist monitor for a Polar H9?

Post by Mithrandir » February 10th, 2024, 4:29 am

I connect a Polar H9 HRM to my erg's PM5, but I also want to use the H9 with something on the wrist that can be used when running. The catch is, I can only find multi-function devices that already have built-in HRMs. I know the H9 can be used with lots of them, but all I want is something basic and having a wrist-worn HRM seems needless as I already have a chest monitor. Anyone know if what I'm looking for exists?

I think you need to go for a sport or smartwatch. You can connect the belt to these watches and some of them (if not all) can provide the HR to other machines as well (but don't know, if they can receive and send at the same time).
Alternatively you can use a smartphone and connect the belt to it (Polar Beat).

Most WearOS watches can do bluetooth. On mine I can connect with (Google) Fit app.

But the H9 can do only one bluetooth at a time, so if you want to connect to both your watch and your erg, you need to use ANT+ to connect to the PM5.

Thanks, both. Think I'll look into a WearOS watch. :D

I posted a question similar to this a few months back, and concluded that the Polar Unite was the most cost effective solution.
