Hi There,
I have a model C erg and upgraded it with a 2nd hand PM3. During the refurbishment process I‘ve replaced: chain, bungie, axle and sensor, update PM3 firmware. The machine works great. The only thing I am not persuaded is the looks of the force curve (see links below, always last quarter). Any idea what could be the cause and how i could fix it?

Any help is highly appreciated

PM3 Erratic Force Curve
Re: PM3 Erratic Force Curve
Could be because the Model C flywheel/sensor only produces 3 signals per rotation, where a Model D flywheel/sensor produces a continuous signal based on 6 magnets. So it has a lot less data to work on.

Re: PM3 Erratic Force Curve
Wouldn't worry about it, curve looks a good overall shape.
Better data comes when you use a PM5 and ErgData and you can start getting some actual handle loads in Kg.
Probably a 1st Gen PM3, what firmware is it running ?

Could be you're using your arms at the catch, so finding yourself in a difficult posture at the finish. The hump will come sooner if you use the legs first.

Re: PM3 Erratic Force Curve
Thanks for the reply. I manage to get smooth curve on other ergs (with PM5) at the rowing club so I think that at least not all occurrences are due to technique.
I uploaded the only version that the Utility Tool offered when connected which is version 332. The Datecode is 2009. Both suggests that it is a 2nd Gen screen or is it possible to upload the wrong version?Carl Watts wrote: ↑February 11th, 2024, 8:12 pmWouldn't worry about it, curve looks a good overall shape.

Re: PM3 Erratic Force Curve
V332 means its a 2nd Gen PM4 so that's still a good monitor but they no longer release new firmware updates anymore its all moved onto the PM5 now.
