ErgData has a stroke counter. Just glance at it every minute and you'll know how you're doing. I did a 30 R 20 the other day, 599 strokes (it hit zero as I did my 600th stroke).

I use it frequently on nearly all my steady rows. I typically match the exact count for 60mins of r17, r18 or r19 sessions (1020, 1080 or 1140), which are my typical go for to get slight variation in intensities. For me the counter is all I need to stay on track.
