Seeking insights on BikeErg updates since 2017

Hello Concept 2 community,

Hope you're all rowing strong! I'm curious if there have been any updates or improvements on the BikeErg since its release in 2017. Your insights would be greatly appreciated!

Best regards,
Jurrian

Curious what kind of updates or improvements you are asking about.

Physical changes to the equipment?
Software or programming changes?
What shortcomings were you hoping had been addressed?

Hi Edward,

Thanks for your prompt response. I'm particularly interested in understanding if there have been updates or improvements to the BikeErg since its initial release in 2017. While I've noticed physical changes in rowing ergs and skiergs over time, it seems the BikeErg has not undergone such alterations.

My curiosity was sparked when I noticed a distinction in the location of the serial number, mentioning "before" and "after" May 24th, 2018. I'm keen to learn if there have been any noteworthy software or programming changes, and if there are specific enhancements addressing any shortcomings that users might have encountered.

Your insights would be highly valuable in shedding light on this matter.

Best regards,
Jurrian Elekan

To clarify, I can't provide any answers as a fairly new BikeErg owner. Buti hadn't heard of any modifications to the hardware and was curious what kind of changes you might be expecting.

Will also watch to see if any useful response arrives.

I'm sure there have been a lot of changes to the firmware. I can think of two significant mechanical changes that happened before I left C2 five years ago- The flywheel was modified to increase the drag factor range- mostly dropping the low end of the range. A couple changes were made to the crank arm to axle attachment to make it more robust. There may have been more changes since 2018- have you asked C2 about it?

Nothing major. They introduced a device holder that you can get as a retro kit.

I vaguely recall they changed the cranks, but I don't see any evidence of that in the schematics:

Appreciate the responses. Just got a 2018 BikeErg with only 1 million meters on it. Confirmed the differences you all pointed out: Crank and axle, flywheel, and seat holder. Excited about this addition to my setup!
