What governs rowing is the cube power law: W = kV³, V in m/s. It lets us train good stroke (in W/spm terms) at little more than half race power, so go long distances.
What governs running is gravity, having to get off the ground at each stride and then take another one all too soon.
So to get a proper workout on erg, keep the stroke content high: W/Rating.
What is a proper workout?
