New HM PB by over 7 minutes. Was planning on a 2:06/2:07 pace to break 90 mins. After finally having a days rest I actually felt really good at the start. Did a much faster first split then planned, so then decided to try to hold that pace. Got dark at the end, but managed to pull through.
Great improvement, well done.

Hi All, been a while since i posted, spend most of my time on FB in The Diamonds Group, thought id post some recent PBs.

100m in 15.0s on slides, to take the BR for my age category

This was the 2nd attempt, the previous was 15.2s shave the.2 off, reckon with a bit more practice can go sub 15, will re-visit in t he future no doubt.

Also improved my low pull seeing 1:10.x on the PM5 during this PB which betters my previous LP of 1:16.x

1 minute for 356m on slides which is a BR for my age category. This was my 1st attempt in 2 years, improved by 21m which required an uptick in power from 487W average to 485W, very happy with that and planning to make further attempts see just how far i can go in that minute!.

Thats all for now.
Age 61, on 2/01/22 I rowed 115,972m 11hrs 17m 57s and raised £19k for https://www.havenshospices.org.uk/ Thanks for all the support

Outstanding effort and well paced. You must have had a bit left in the tank as well with a finish like that.

Hopefully more PBs to come. I'm in awe of people that master ultra long and ultra short distances. It's an extremely tough thing to do, and I'm just not built for it like you are

Great stuff Glenn - and congrats on the PBs and records. Intrigued to see that slides are so much faster for the ultra sprints. I'd understood that they were for helpful for distance but didn't realise there was so much difference on effectively the power stuff, but there's a huge power difference between your 15s slides and 16s static 100m and 1:10LP compared with 1:16 so even at those extremes it looks like you can control the beast. My static is wedged in place as otherwise it moves around too much when doing the short stuff - no doubt highlighting my poor form!

First attempt at a HM today and it felt pretty good. I paced it according to advice I received on here and was pleased to discover that I was able to hang on and even had a bit left in the tank for the last 1000m. I was hoping for a 1:30:00, so very happy with 1:26:14.

My backside got a bit sore towards the end, but it wasn't a major issue. My biggest concern was that I drank so much water beforehand that I would have to stop for a bathroom trip, but once I settled in and started sweating this wasn't a problem.

Time Meters Pace Watts Cal/Hr S/M
1:26:14.1 21,097m 2:02.6 190 953 27 159
17:43.0 4,300m 2:03.6 185 937 25 148
17:36.6 8,600m 2:02.8 189 949 27 153

15:40.6 21,097m 2:00.6 199 985 28 178

I find pushing on these longer distances far more enjoyable than the shorter sprints, I think I'm better suited to it.
