Well done for hanging in there at the end - always a great feeling smashing under a milestone time/distance too!
Thank you. Wasn’t pleasant at the end but we got it done. Lol

Big milestone and that last 2k made me wince!! I can feel the pain and I'm really impressed you kept going when your mind was undoubtedly screaming at you to stop. Well done 👏 👏👏
Thanks Stu. You are absolutely bang on the money. With 3000m to go everything was screaming stop. Did not think I’d be able to hold on until the end. But that’s where the mental side kicked in and saw me through.
Haven’t seen my HR hit 180 for years. To be in the 180s for 8mins was a dark place. Lol

Thx Mike!
Currently lower rates suite me better, as I can control my breath much better. But slightly higher rate should also work well. On r27 I'm around 1:40-1:41 pace and this is clearly to fast for a 10k 😄
I could back off the stroke power, probably I will do so the next time to find a better sweet spot.

I'm absolutely convinced to find these 1.5s with a slightly higher stroke rate.
You can definitely go higher HR in the last 2K

P.S.
No need to say, impressive.
Thank you as well!
HR monitor passed out, I bet I was sneaking above 180.
And there was no chance for a faster sprint in the end, I was huffing and puffing very hard 😂

To take almost a minute off an already impressive 10k - and that your disappointed about not sneaking those lasts 2 seconds in speak volumes - Many congrats that's a huge effort there!
The old 10k PB wasn't a full effort one, it was the outcome of an r24 AT session. So the huge chunk off is not showing the truth...
But what amazes myself is I was able to take this chunk off at the same rate!
Thank you!

Long time no see in this thread 😄

Today's CTC lead to a new PB for the 10k as expected, as this was the first time I went really hard on this distance.
As my season goal was (or still is!) a sub 36, I set this as my target. Wanted to build up a small cushion, so started a bit faster, then eased in to 1:48. Already from 4k it was hard to maintain and already at 6k a really hard time started. My legs started to burn and I felt soreness creeping up. But I tried to hold on or at least not back off so much. Always kept an eye on predicted time and tried to hold it below 36:10, in case there could be some left in the tank for a sprint in the end.
I could increase the pace a bit, but it wasn't enough to get it below 36 😂
So I need to go again this season to get it done.

Code: Select all

Time	Meters	Pace	Watts	Cal/Hr	S/M	♥️
36:01.5	10,000m	1:48.0	277	1254	24	159

7:11.2	10,000m	1:47.8	279	1261	26	96
You should be proud of this Sascha. It took me ages to go sub 36, but you're now within smelling distance of a massive milestone.

First, congrats on the PB and great score! However, I know missing the sub 36 is killing you but you will get it. Your split pattern looks a lot like mine for my PB as far as building some cushion and my overall SPM was 24 too but varied more. Happy for you and know you will go sub 36 next go.

Not sure, if I can go again this month for the CTC, but very confident to get it done this season 💪

On a lower rate I can control my breathing better, so I try to maintain a high stroke power on a lower rate. But next time I will try to up the rate a bit, but decrease the stroke power slightly to see if I can find a better sweet spot to get these 1.5s 💪

176 is 95% of my max, so I was pushing hard the whole time.
If the HR monitor wouldn't have passed out, I am sure we would have seen 180s in the last split and my "sprint".

To my surprise I don't feel any sore or aching muscles today after a good night's sleep 😊

I am ranked 38 out of 68 for hwt women in my age group. I feel fine about that for my first try!

I know I don’t really compare with all you super fast guys but I’m still proud of myself. (I’m also down 50lbs since I got my machine, so I’m feeing good about that, too!)
