Nice one Lindsay. I'm plucking up the courage to do it this morning. Got the oceanias at the end of the month only planning a good 500m so hoping to do around 34 sec which would be good for the confidence
thanks Allan - your power/age ratio is still just outstanding - I still remember having to sit next to you about 15y ago in Auckland although we are 5 years apart in age - so strong - and scary! You nailed that 34s of course. Unbeatable at 500m I reckon.
Had a second go today =>> 37.2 @1:33 with lots of 1:31s but it took sr50 to get there.
There are two entries @1:08 pace already! Just astounding. The Norwegian guy got close to the "unbeatable" 1:10 WR a few years ago.

We now have four boats floating - with a chance for five by the end of the month. Just need three more entries (one of which needs to be a lightweight)
Last day of the month (maybe October already in Australia :D ) Thanks to Chris and James, with their recent rows we almost have 5 boats floating in the CTC. We are down to just needing one more lightweight to get Boat 5 off the dock.

Any lightweights out there who haven't yet rowed the CTC??

I am and I didn’t. Endoscopic surgery to release trigger fingers right hand on 25 Sept. Waited six months for this (2 rounds of Cortisone didn’t work). Procedure was a seven minute In and Out Burger; use restrictions end 9 October. I am confident I can ergo 200m in October without breaking anything essential. Not certain I can break 45” without some work? Have to start now or never as haven’t been on the machine since late August.

Jack - I had noticed your absence and was hoping that you were okay. Hope you have a speedy recovery!

Yes, the September one would have been a lot of rowing with hand/finger issues. The October one is definitely shorter. It is not necessarily easier though. I am not a fan of these short distances. No matter how much warm-up I do, it takes me at least 3 strokes to get into the groove of pulling hard - and then the whole thing is over in another 15 strokes. Might have another go later in the month and increase the damper setting a bit.

That's a very good improvement Lindsay. My stroke rate was similar at 48 with max damper I have to keep the rate up. Yes I remember Auckland 1.25 that year finished last 100 in low 120's so potentially could have been better. Teamed up with 3 other 50+ guys and did a 5m 48 2k relay. From memory you weren't too far behind that day. I've been a bit slack and kept in touch with Shirley G but knowing her she will more than likely show up at the end of the month races in Christchurch

Did the CTC today and thought I would row a 2:11 pace as this my current PB for 2000m. But then I saw Sheenas entry today. So I went to my absoulte max, HR being 191 at the end (calculated MHR 185). And took off one second B). Pace 2:06.7.
Sorry Sheena!
Great job!! I kept procrastinating all month long, saw that you beat me and just couldn’t convince myself to get back on and get you back!

that's really strong Allan well done indeed.
you may have noticed "former" Kiwi and longtime (decades) member Todd Carpenter appear with a cracking piece - he is a real athlete. Looks like his son is pretty strong too. Long time Floridian.

Great to have Todd back, and his son with him. Serious speed from both of them.

200m V3.0 and managed another 0.4s off after a long session so a bit more to go I hope.
Saw some 1:28s for the first time for a long time.

Awesome game All blacks v Ireland back and forth worthy of a final a great spectacle of how rugby 🏉 should be played with speed and brilliance on both sides. Unfortunately someone had to be second. Gifting the ball back to a dangerous Ireland team with 2 minutes to go will go down as a massive brain fart and bench him for the next week that was a shocker.

Thinking ahead, is anyone planning to do BRIC on December 9th?

NZ champs today. Did 1000m as a warm up for the 500m so I managed 3m26 then did a 1m30.2 for 500. Best time since 2019 must have been doing something right this time
