CRASH-Bs 2024????
I was just trying to find the date for the 2024 CRASH-Bs to try to determine if they conflicted with dates that my brother wants to travel, and found only 'Error code 521 Web Server is down.'
Not a good sign. Does anyone know if CRASH-Bs are planned for 2024, or has another good regatta bitten the dust? Gone the way of BIRC?

BRIC is alive and well and will be on the 9th of December this year at the NEC in Birmingham.Yankeerunner wrote: ↑August 20th, 2023, 6:36 pmI was just trying to find the date for the 2024 CRASH-Bs to try to determine if they conflicted with dates that my brother wants to travel, and found only 'Error code 521 Web Server is down.'

Probably won't be anything like the old BIRC at the NIA. My race in 2003 had over 100 in the MHWT 45-49.Rod wrote: ↑August 21st, 2023, 8:53 amBRIC is alive and well and will be on the 9th of December this year at the NEC in Birmingham.Yankeerunner wrote: ↑August 20th, 2023, 6:36 pmI was just trying to find the date for the 2024 CRASH-Bs to try to determine if they conflicted with dates that my brother wants to travel, and found only 'Error code 521 Web Server is down.'

Re: CRASH-Bs 2024????
Thanks for the link. I did the BIRC eight straight years from 2002 through 2009 and had a great time. I'd consider giving it another shot, even if it isn't quite the same as back then. Wasn't it cancelled last year for lack of enough entrants to make it financially feasible?Rod wrote: ↑August 21st, 2023, 8:53 amBRIC is alive and well and will be on the 9th of December this year at the NEC in Birmingham.Yankeerunner wrote: ↑August 20th, 2023, 6:36 pmI was just trying to find the date for the 2024 CRASH-Bs to try to determine if they conflicted with dates that my brother wants to travel, and found only 'Error code 521 Web Server is down.'

Re: CRASH-Bs 2024????
Yes but it was at a very expensive venue, this one should be a lot less to put on plus people now know to get their emtries in a bit earlier or risk losing the competition.Yankeerunner wrote: ↑August 21st, 2023, 11:38 am

Re: CRASH-Bs 2024????
So…back to the original question: What is up with Crash-B’s 2024? Anybody know? Could it merge (again) with USRA Championships? And what has become of that regatta??
Re: CRASH-Bs 2024????
A month from the original posting, and the CRASH-B website is still missing. Surely there must be someone at Concept2 who knows someone affiliated with CRASH-B and who could fill us in on what is going on. If the event is not going to be held next year, someone please let us know.

Re: CRASH-Bs 2024????
It looks like the CRASH-B Sprints have been dead since 2019. You get a Cloudflare HTTP 404 for their website. The Concept2 website points to the World Rowing Indoor Championships (WRICH) - which is in Prague in 2024.
So I think you can assume that the CRASH-B Sprints are dead in the water.

Re: CRASH-Bs 2024????
I went to CRASH-Bs in Boston last February (2023). Full on event at the new TRACK facility at New Balance. I'l reach out to my contacts there and report back to everyone.

Re: CRASH-Bs 2024????
Thanks Aquaman! Im actually finishing an article about how to use a rowing machine and at the end I wanted to provide people an option of what they can do with their new found skill and the Crash B's was one of those things. Their FB page was updated in March around the one it sounds like you attended. I scrolled back to see if they directed people to register at regatta central but nope, they said to go to their site. Maybe their social person fell asleep for a few months??
Def interested to know if this is still a thing.

Re: CRASH-Bs 2024????
Out of curiosity I also just checked the USRowing website to see when the 2024 Indoor National Championship will be, and that also is a blank. They show the 2023 championship in Atlantic City last February, the rest of the 2023 season OTW, and all of the 2024 OTW season. Nothing at all about a 2024 Indoor.
I hope this isn't the death of the big indoor races in the USA.

I know most indoor races are of the shorter distance but I would love to see some indoor events here in the US, regardless of distance.Yankeerunner wrote: ↑September 28th, 2023, 6:49 pmOut of curiosity I also just checked the USRowing website to see when the 2024 Indoor National Championship will be, and that also is a blank. One of the cool aspects of the C2 and C2 community is that you can "compete" remotely/virtually but in person competition is where it's at (IMO).

Re: CRASH-Bs 2024????
I wrote to USRowing a few weeks ago asking about Indoor Nationals for 2024. They said that they are finalizing details and would be announcing them soon. I certainly hope that both Indoor Nationals and CRASH-B happen in 2024. I just started rowing on an Erg in mid-summer and was (am) looking forward to chances to row with other people rather than alone in my basement. I lived in Boston for years and had always heard about CRASH-B and was looking forward to the chance to be a part of it.

Re: CRASH-Bs 2024????
I've been very frustrated the past couple years trying to find a race I could attend. Many established races seem to be on extended hiatus. Others don't set a date until too late to make travel arrangements. Still others fail to provide information about schedule, age groups, or weight classes. Too bad, since there is no substitute for live, in-person venue racing.
