After 2 fast rows (for me) in the last 3 days I probably should have had a rest day today but couldn"t resist a go at my 30 min PB.

Pseudo PB for the 30r20, which is our monthly team challenge:

Code: Select all

Time	Meters	Pace	Watts	Cal/Hr	S/M	♥️
30:00.0	8,068m	1:51.5	252	1167	20	172
5:00.0	1,363m	1:50.0	263	1203	20	168
10:00.0	1,349m	1:51.1	255	1176	20	170
15:00.0	1,341m	1:51.8	250	1160	20	172
20:00.0	1,337m	1:52.1	248	1152	20	173
25:00.0	1,332m	1:52.6	245	1143	20	173
30:00.0	1,347m	1:51.3	253	1172	20	177
I was convinced to go for my idea of a target <=1:51 average and started strong. I think I can get this, but not today - faded heavily already from 5mins on, but could hang on and finish strong with ~1:48 for the last minute.
8019m -> 8068m
Congrats!

Still solid for your age, height and weight!

Is there still 30minute races in Germany?

I have no idea of races in Germany tbh. But I like the idea of in person racing, so I probably try to get some info what's going on around here 😊

Same, have no inclination to row "Virtually"

I know Starnberg has/had an annual 30min race and I think somewhere else, i can't recall?

I've been trying to find out any information on the "Ergohead" in the Netherlands that is usually raced every January but no-one seems to know?

New PB and.........World Record!

As promised I gave the 4:00 another go. I decided to warm-up to see how I felt before deciding and I felt pretty good. I then programmed the 4:00 and figured I would start into it and if I didn't have it I would just stop but 2:00 in I was hurting but knew I was in a good rhythm and had some left in the tank. I wanted 1300 as the WR was 1298 and this was right near 1:32 so my plan was to average 1:32 and the 1:00 splits ended up at 1:31.7, 1:32.3,1:32.0 and 1:31.8. for a 1:31.9 average and 1305 meters -36 SPM. First minute I did some hard pulls to get going and drive down pace and then settled right on 1:32, mostly held that for the next 2 minutes and fought the mental demons. With one minute left I was really worried about falling apart and I actually increased SPM and pace for a bit to try and counteract it and seemed to work but then I started "freezing up" some and held on the best I could, last 15-20 seconds I faded but had built a little cushion and hit goal (over goal). I was absolutely crushed after but then actually recovered better once I did a cool-down row and such - more so than usual.

I entered the score with verification on C2 Site and it shows properly in rankings but not sure if I need to submit anywhere else to have WR updated.

incredible Keith - congratulations!

I could find an info, that the rooms for the competition were not ready (in Starnberg) so it was canceled for this year.

I received that info also from the free-spirits rowing forum.

They seem to be cancelling a lot of comps don't they..............

I'm hoping to find a wattbike comp here in the UK(or even in Europe) as I really enjoy the wattbike also.

Here in the USA the number of comps has shrunk quite a bit since COVID. There were 3 - 4 every year within a 90 minute drive for me and I used to always do them. Now there is only 1 and it's usually close to the bigger comps (WRIC) if I plan to do those. I really miss the in-person comps, I almost always got PB and it was a fun atmosphere. I may drive a little further to do some when they come back around in beginning of 2024.

Actually, your times (specifically the 2k which is most comps) would be good enough to win most the comps I have went to for your category. Remember you are in the high percentile, you would be getting medals for sure at comps.......but stating "need more training" is a great attitude. Want o keep progressing.

Ok, I really thought a 6:40 (which I could probably squeeze out on an in person comp, when rested and prepared) is too slow. But who knows...depends on participants 😄
