PM5 - Not Auto switching on when Rowing

Post by kris.castelow » August 16th, 2023, 11:06 am

Hi Guys,

Picked up a 2nd hand PM5 to replace my fully working PM3.

All seems to work except that the monitor does not automatically power on when I start rowing. I have to hit a button first. Rowing is then picked up as usual. Connectivity with ErgData, HR, etc all work well. Batteries are at 96% and are the original industrials.

To rule out the rower cable, I've also tried the PM5 with my Ski-erg and Bike-erg, neither will auto power on this PM5 on activity.

I've also tried the following:

*Remove batteries for 24h
*Factory reset as per C2 guidelines
*Flashed latest beta 34.001 revision firmware

None has fixed the issue.

I can say that if I start rowing within 2-3 seconds of standby, it WILL switch on and start pisking up the rowing. If left for longer it falls asleep and only a button press will wake.

Its not a showstopper but a little annoying.

Any ideas?

Thanks

For starters if its running V34 firmware its a first gen PM5 so its old now.

They are supposed to boot almost instantly when you pull the handle, they are much faster than a PM3 or PM4 and closer to a PM2.

Make sure you have it configured to the correct version of the Concept 2 rower as above.
