Needed a leak during a session, PM5 lost connection to HRM

Post by HornetMaX » June 25th, 2023, 10:51 am

Hi, not sure this is an actual bug.

I was rowing a long session (marathon) and I had to go to the restroom after ~1h33 for 2min10s. The PM5 lost connection to the HRM (Polar H9) and that's ok (restroom probably outside range). But once back I was kind of expecting it to reconnect to the H9 (it was connected via ANT): that didn't happen. The PM5 (and ErgZone) kept on logging normally (pheeew!) but there was no HR data from that point on.

I doubt the problem is on the H9 (battery is very recent, works fine after).
Is the PM5 supposed to reconnect in such cases ? If not, it would be nice it did.

P.S
Log is here, in case.
Way I connect the HRM to PM5: switch PM5 on, connect HRM via ANT (only after that I connect EgzZone or ErgData to the PM5).

Lost HR contact is lost on PM and all data on Ergdata comes from PM, so lost there too. Probably to avoid low averages. If anything I use a watch, can switch on at any time.

Yeah but I've seen the PM5 losing the HRM on occasions (e.g. when the HRM battery is low) and get it back.
I don't see why it shouldn't connect back once the HRM is again in range.

I thought the pairing facility was only active when you first switch on the PM (??) - so if you later go out of range and its dropped they're not looking for each other when you come back. If I fail to connect the HR belt during my start up sequence, the the PM and Belt never see each other, despite both being comms active (Ant+ and BLE) throughout the piece.
