Thanks all for the feedback. I'm finding it very helpful in determining how I approach things.

Today was W5S2, 4 x 800m with 2:00 rest. Instructions said for the first 3 intervals to match average pace from last week's 3x1000m intervals (which was 2:21.6), then to go as fast as you can manage for the last interval.

Here is what I managed:

Tomorrow will be a rest day for me. I'm settling in to keep Wednesdays and Sundays as my rest days. Right now, aside from the incidental 6-8K steps I get throughout my day at work, Erging is the only training I'm doing, so I don't have to consider any other activities as far as recovery goes.

I'm an actuary, LOL.
I'm curious to see your 2k progression over the years, I just completed one season having close to 2M km and on to my second. The nice thing about this is that you will see improvements as long as you show up consistently, I track my own progress quite closely as well. I find it funny that your mileage actually went down during the covid years.
We are in not very dissimilar lines, I'm a statistician. :D

Glad the 3 orders of magnitude error was by the statistician not the actuary :lol:

You'd think I'd track stuff better being an actuary. I don't as far as PBs go. I tracked HR b/c it gives me a good indication of my CV fitness. If I go an hour and keep it around x% HRR, I like to see how far I can go. Over time, that distance goes up. It's actually more like a step function than linearly.

Kinda the same for me, i started at 11ish km per hour and at 13km now in zone 2/SS. The improvements are non linear for sure, I've had periods of detraining due to travel, illness etc. But generally it goes up.

I'm finding that it takes more effort now to get to the target zones then when I first bought my erg last year around this time. As much as I want to train more its hard to find more time as I usually just train during lunch, maybe i could do a 45min morning and a noon session for SS.

Excellent! That's some very good progress. 1500m intervals are probably my least favorite.

2km intervals are pretty grim but for me the absolute worst are 750's.....pure :twisted:

Good morning all.
W5S3 -- another 7000m, slow and steady until the last 1000m, when I gave it a little spice. A little slower than the 7k earlier in the week, but during that one, I went faster during just about the whole second half.

Just started my fourth time at the BPP. I enjoy the structure and variety of this plan at the start of the season. It keeps me accountable and pushes me to do more interval training than I would normally attempt on most weeks. Plus I like posting on this thread. :roll:

May was a rowing disaster for me. I was bedridden with the flu the first week. Did not eat or drink for 3 days and required 3L of IV hydration before I could even get up and about. Did not row for almost 2 weeks which is the longest stretch for me in over 4 years! Total meters in May was my lowest in the past 3 years at just over 50k. Still weak now, but I am confident the BPP will build me back up.

Had a similar start of the season, but other reasons. Anyway, there is plenty of time to build up again, so let's go 💪💪

Good morning - happy Friday everyone!
W5S4 - a 20 minute row. Instructions say to judge by how you feel, and either to just focus on technique without worrying about pace or to try to go a couple seconds faster than your 7k pace (2:32.9 and 2:33.5) from earlier this week. I was feeling pretty good so pushed a little.
