And once you've got the Web based account set up the account will receive data for each workout you do.from the app. Detailed data can be downloaded for each stroke within the workout in various formats Inc. csv. From the Web not the app
Will that give me stroke length data? With the workouts I transferred from the C2 memory to my logbook I can only see:
Time Meters Pace Watts Cal/Hr S/M

If you really need stroke length data, I think you can get it from ErgZone, but you'll need to pay for the ErgZone+ feature

The only thing I don't think I can get with the new version of the app is the stroke length data that the old version had.
You can get all data as given by the old version. In new ergdata app you can configure every single field on each pre-configured display view. Tap on the data field and select what you want to see.

Same here. I just prefer the way ErgZone saves & organizes your workouts, especially for plans that you may redo mutiple times.

However I hate you have to pay to have some basic data, some of which comes straight from the PM5 or is trivial to compute.
You're literally paying for a simple "printf" (if you're not interested in other premium features). And it's not even an app purchase (one-off payment), no it's a 60euros per year thing. Damn marketing ...

So I'm sticking to the free version of ErgZone and I switch to ErgData (the new one) when I want to have a look at the "premium" ( :? ) metrics.

I don't pay for the premium version, as I just don't see much benefit for me, but I take your point about the price

Hi, this is Gabriel from ErgZone. Just want to say a few things. ErgZone is a very small company, 2 people only. There's no funding, no big company behind us with loads of money. C2 makes money selling their machines and oars and they can afford a free app. We have to charge to stay in business, the app is US$50 a year or US$5 a month. We've seen many apps shutting down because it's a tough market to be in. Making an app and maintaining it is not cheap, and it's not just a "printf" like you said. We work very hard to make ErgZone the most stable app out there and to bring a lot of innovation to the erg community.
Talking about the premium metrics, yes, ErgData does display some of them but not the way we do it. On ErgZone you can see the current value of the metric but you can also see the average value for the interval or split. And there's more. A lot of those metrics when using ErgData are gone, they are not accessible on the PM5 or even on the Logbook. That's not the case with ErgZone, your data is persisted and you can analyze any metrics and compare and see how you are progressing.

Also since I'm here, we just started a FREE year long challenge/competition and anybody can participate. It will be 12 virtual events and each month, a new challenge will be added and remain open throughout the season.
Here's the link for the first workout if you're interested, it's 1min@20SPM https://app.erg.zone/w/THzhd1_TR0SdFlHvwUyw_g

That makes sense, I saw "drive length" as one of the fields in a rowing video (may have been Cameron Buchan) and assumed it was ErgData, but it may well have been ErgZone.

The "printf" was referring to stuff like "you can only see the max force in ErgZone+": this data (and some others) come from the PM5 so seeing it in real time is really just a "printf" (or close to). I do understand other stuff like persisting stuff in records or computing averages (when not provided by the PM5) involves more work. But some limitations seems a bit artificial ("10 columns only in ErgZone+" vs 6 in free version).

That said:
  • In the past ErgZone support has been extremely responsive in fixing one issue involving recent version of Android. That was much appreciated.
  • As said, I still find ErgZone way of entering and managing sessions way superior to ErgData: to me that's really its strong point.
  • FWIW, personally I'd be ready to pay a one-off fee for the current free version of ErgData and I'd also be ready to occasionally donate (e.g. to finance new versions or features). I just find the current "+" option hard to swallow because some of the features should/could be in the vanilla version and some of the features may be of little interest to many users (apple stuff for non-apple people, communities, web-admin etc). I wonder if you're not missing out on money from users that are aligned to that.

Had a go at the 10,000m today and surprised myself by taking almost 40 seconds off my previous PB, so was very happy with that. I could really notice the BPP paying off, during the last 10 mins of the session I was able to hold a good pace and even speed up a bit towards the end. My first attempt at the 10,000m was quite different; I felt awful towards the end and the paced dropped off dramatically.

Time Meters Pace Watts Cal/Hr S/M
39:35.1 10,000m 1:58.7 209 1019 24 172
7:50.9 2,000m 1:57.7 215 1038 24 163
7:52.2 2,000m 1:58.0 213 1032 25 170
7:56.4 2,000m 1:59.1 207 1013 24 174
8:00.1 2,000m 2:00.0 202 996 24 175
7:55.4 2,000m 1:58.8 208 1017 25 178

It was the first time I tried the ErgData app, I really liked it and it was super easy to upload the workout. As a bonus it was automatically verified as well.
