Hello. I have a vexing problem with my Model D rower which I'm hoping someone can help solve.
As you can see from the video (link below), the generator coil base pops out when I pull hard. With the cover removed, it's possible to see that the generator coil itself is also jumping on the hard pulls, as if being caught or smacked upwards from below.
The coil sits flush with the flywheel as it should, and I can see no obvious misalignment of neither the shock cord, nor the chain.
Any ideas most welcome.

Concept2 support is very helpful. Maybe drop them and email pointing to your video or give them a call.
Assume the chain is hitting something. The generator base / chain guide is right where the chain goes over the sprocket to drive the flywheel and near where the chain goes around an idler pulley. In order of increasing complexity
Maybe get a helper to video the chain on the sprocket as you pull. See if the chain jumps on the sprocket. See if anything else appears to hit the base up. I didn't see any debris or kinks in the chain.
Maybe turn the erg upside down and slide the plastic cover off the bottom of the chain area and watch the chain go over the sprocket and idler wheel. See if it jumps at all. https://youtu.be/kA-rW268Ils?t=95 Maybe something got into the chain area and is bumping into things. Video shows how to remove plastic slide cover and shows correct chain routing.
Maybe remove the generator and generator base / chain guide using Citroen's instructions and see where the base is getting hit. There might be some scarring on the plastic. See if the scaring is directly above the sprocket where the chain might rise after hopping a tooth or if the scarring is some place else. Try to determine what is hitting the base/chain guide by taking a few strokes with the generator and base removed. (Think you need to pull the handle to get the generator base off the chain, or maybe you can just slide the chain guide/base up to the handle). Good luck.

The end of the generator base that's popping up has a catch that isn't fully engaged. Push downward on the base and then maybe tap it with a hammer to engage the plastic catch. The generator will jump around and vibrate when the cover is removed- it's the force of the alternating poles of the magnet passing by the generator that cause this.

I have a similar generator rattling problem, while it doesn't jump out like graemek87, there's definitely some rattle. I tried a rubber band around the housing and that seemed to help a little bit ... couple other points where it seems like a wedge kind of helps, but I haven't found the perfect solution yet:
