WEC Challenge ....we're still in the lucky ELEVENTH position overall ! Thank you to the Lunie WEC Challenge Team for making this so!
Are there lunar lava tubes? Absolutely! This was my favorite April Fool's content from yesterday:
Have you heard about the huge lava tubes being converted to closed atmosphere, spacesuit-free living below the surface of our magnificent moon?
(insert name of a cycling hiking adventure company based in Canada)...is proud to announce that we are now working on the first ever cosmic tour in these passages for cyclists who like the ease of riding in 15% gravity without the need for e-bikes, and hikers who want to work on their stride!
We are now accepting early pre-bookings for this once in a lifetime experience listed on our growing groups page. If you reserve your space on this lunar departure before noon, Saturday, you can claim a 50 percent discount on the inaugural price....
Btw, at least one reference of a UCLA doctoral student studying lunar lava tubes: https://www.universetoday.com/156932/la ... 20research.
Many ideas that start out as "science fiction", are the precursors of new inventions!

Thanks, K2, for cheering us all on! You already know this, but I thought I'd share my own little Mudseason challenge.
I usually take this challenge on at the 10K level, but knowing that I was going to be restarting chemo this month, I thought I'd go for 5Ks. A few days in, I decided I might be able to do more, so I started my own little 5K/day walking challenge. My primary care doc keeps telling me that all my rowing is very nice, but I really need some weight-bearing exercise. Yesterday I completed my 25th 5K+ walk (plod?) about town. I got to meet every dog in the neighborhood and check out everybody's spring bulbs. It felt good.
Congratulations on the double March Madness Challenge completion!
Wishing you the best with your next round of chemo.

Thank you, David, for the kind words of encouragement. And thank you, K2, for all that you do, especially for supporting me through the tough times.

It was a Discovery Channel morning. The dogs had been out, and in and out, etc., as is their habit every morning when they need to check the perimeter (usually from the deck). As I was ready to let one out AGAIN, I looked over in the corner by the transformer...because that's where the critters usually hide out. Whoa. Big kitty. Whoa. Bobcat. Bobcat munching an unfortunate something just on the other side of my back fence. Turned out to be a squirrel that the bobcat spent about 20 minutes consuming except for the head and tail.

Just FYI...
There are still 6 stalwart Lunies progressing through the April Fool's Challenge.
As of 23:50 UTC today, the 6 that are still going are:
Ted Crowley-Gilbert
Wild Bill
Ron MacBruce
Brett McCrory
Roy Passfield
Carol Wright
This is the challenge that puts meaning to the phrase, "The only easy day was yesterday."

Hmmm - usually we are able to enter meters until midnight Pacific time, which clearly has not yet occurred at the time of this writing. So, when I look up the honor board, it already tells me that no one has completed 10 days in the Concept2 Universe unless they are on the other side of the dateline (except for one gal in Indiana). Congrats to the six listed, but I believe we might have a couple more (Norma and starbuck)...is there a way to see what was happening on day 9 when it is still the 9th? My thought was to congratulate everyone at the end of the Challenge when all Challenge meters had been posted....
