Very nice Gustel!

How was it at that high SR for the 3 hours?
Thank you all. Concerning stroke rate, it felt OK. Yes, it is a bit higher than ideal. However, heart rate stayed low. I did not have much choice as I have a rather weak stroke and 2:06 was just too fast for me to row with a lower stroke rate.
I started drinking after 20k. This helped and, although I lost some time rowing one-handed, I felt refreshed.
I also went stupidly to the pub yesterday for a pint which was followed by a really salty pizza. As a result I was thirstier than normal. In the last 10k the seat started to be uncomfortable. Otherwise, I had no problems. I felt really tired this afternoon and will have good sleep this night, I think.

Overall, I have done now 3 FMs this season and I am happy with the improvement.

29/12/22 42,195m 3:03:45.9
02/06/22 42,195m 3:19:47.9

I will now give the longer distances a rest and focus on my last PB target, which is 5k under 19:00.

new 1k PR...1.2 secs faster than this time last year.

this time was good enough for 7th in 50-59 (verified time...there's 2 bogus scores ahead of me on the leaderboard) at World Indoor Virtual Sprint, 2 places higher than last year.

I've lost my rowing mojo for the past 9 months as I've got some very difficult things happening in my family life and it's been hard to focus. (hence why I also haven't been active on here). But I managed to string together a really fun month of training - 3 sprint sessions plus 2 30 min zone 1 sessions a week with no steady state at all - and I've both enjoyed it and it's helped me get to my first PB in quite a while.

I had the usual physical and mental wobble at about 350m and probably slowed down for a little too long before ramping things up with 250 to go. I was hoping to re-row over the weekend to sneak into the 3.07s but life got in the way.

That's killer!! I love how you mixed it up, made it fun, and smashed a PB.

Recognizing the wobble is easy  , but getting through it is another matter for me. Well done.

thank you everybody (and thank you Keith for not entering a time that would have pushed me down a spot. Did you see the results...someone in the 50s pulled a 2.49!)

sadly I think my family issues will be here for a while - my wife has developed some serious mental health problems over the past few years that are worsening. She's being treated (full time at the moment) and we have to hope this will help, but I think it'll be a long haul.

to be honest, that makes regular training and being healthy more important for me too and I intend to keep training. But..whether I'll be able to push hard or care enough to do so remains to be seen.

either way, thank you for the support and I'll hope to come in here again more often
