International Women's Day was forcing me to plan a 5k PB for today and so I did.

This is for all women out there 😊

Code: Select all

Time	Meters	Pace	Watts	Cal/Hr	S/M	HR
17:40.5	5,000m	1:46.0	293	1309	28	169
1:44.7	500m	1:44.7	305	1349	28	161

1:45.3	500m	1:45.3	300	1331	31	174
I started with 1:45, but after the first k I knew this will not work for 5k. So I tried to hang on for 1:46, had to drop off a bit for the 4th km to be able to finish strong and get 1:46 average.
As it is not a bad neither a good day, I am satisfied with the result. Chopping >16s from the old PB 👍

For me it's the 97th percentile age and weight group, so not too bad 😄

Wait, you don't include gender ? OK it's women's day but still ... :P

For me it's the 74th percentile age and weight (and gender) so ... still a different league.
But I'm OK with that, 2 years ago I was probably 95th percentile in the world couch potato ranking (any age, any weight).

Haha, forgot to write about gender, but the percentile stays the same without gender set up in the filter 😇

74th percentile gives more freedom for fast gains to climb up rankings 😁
Above 90th it gets harder to gain another percent of ranking 🤣

Thanks Vic!

Tbh, not really. I felt that 1:45 will not happen today, as the last training week was too exhaustive. 1:46 felt stable until 4th k, where I needed some breath to regain power, so backing off the pace was with intention to finish strong.
I was in control for the complete distance and my legs felt good all the way (of course I felt the strain well, but it was never the case I thought I had to HD or will miss the 1:46 massively).
Curious how my performance in today's gym session in the evening will be 😄

Great result, Sascha. Every time I've done a hard 5k, I have always had a massive wobble at circa 4k. You were definitely pushing the boundaries and sub 17:30 isn't going be too far off now.

I could have pushed through the 4th k, but I am not sure, if the 5th would have turned into a breakdown. I thought it is a wiser decision to back off a bit and then going stronger in the last k. Next time hopefully I can attack a little bit fresher and go through at constant pace with strong finish 😄
