Is Jeremy Martin on the 70s list? Hes been rewriting the British Records over the last year or so and should be virtually there. I don't think the WR is in any danger, but he's already posted a 6:56 this month in the IRL so will be pretty hard to beat even by Rick.

A little off topic, but having been in the 70+ group for nearly seven years, I'm always interested in the strong rowers in the group and those soon to join. Jeremy Martin was flying under the radar until last yr when he started posting some good times and this yr setting several WRs at 1K and less. He is also great at 2K, is not quite as spectacular beyond 2K. I always thought that TJ Oesterling from Hawaii and Fraz Van Mierlo from Holland would be the guys to beat in 70+, but inexplicably they have disappeared over the last two yrs. Richard Steventon just turned 70 with good times. Of course, undue focus on times is a bit of an irrelevancy. We all get out of rowing what we can.

Congrats to Yankeerunner for eradicating the disappointment of the race a few weeks ago.

Also congrats to Elizabeth who is an awesome rower irrespective of Versa races. I don't recall seeing Kirsten Kline's name at the WRICH. I thought she was entered. Another awesome rower.

Thanks, Jim! Kirsten competed in the Versa, and put the pressure on to keep the paces up. She's a fantastic athlete.

Interesting Jim. I was surprised that Jeremy didn't enter in the end, but even more surprised by the times posted by Stout and Monckton - both inside the old WR - absolutely amazing and out of nowhere for me as they don't post in the rankings, a shame. There seems a bit of a dearth in the 65-70 at the moment, but who knows who's out there doing amazing stuff in private - I'm hoping Richard Cheeseman (LGF) will get back into it this year and attack the British Record at least - where's Jon Bone (Nav) gone? Richard Steventon is one of my training partners so in regular contact. Not quite the force he was following his THR but still has an incredible engine so slowly picking off the BRs above 2k - 10k next I think. Indeed he officially still has the 2k BR until Jeremy or someone goes sub7 in a race.

Annoyingly I was busy this w/e and only saw the first morning live. Have since caught up and watched some key races - 2x sub 5:40s !!! - and saw All of Elizabeth's versa workouts. Looked like an very intense challenge - not keen on changing stuff like DF on the bullseye, but certainly all four rounds I saw were plenty hard enough to sort out the very best. Did the fifth (second!) round take place in the end postposned from day 1? And it turns out Elizabreth is the very best. Many congrats - incredibly impressive erging.

Also congrats to all the others taking part - I much enjoyed watching.

Jon is struggling with his diabetes and is probably not going to be compete again, albeit I still hope he will. He does do some bikeerg sessions, as he's able to control his blood sugar easier using that

Thanks MPx! The challenge definitely tested not only speed but a variety of different abilities, including strategy, teamwork, adaptability, pacing, rating. The Elimination event didn't end up taking place. The race organizers weren't confident that they could completely sort out the software issues, and offered the athletes the option for an additional Sunday challenge, with the caveat that it may not be the same, it may not be public, and they'd have to sort out scheduling since the day was already so busy. But we could still compete and earn points. A few of us wanted to - Maciej and I talked after and were both of the opinion that it would be brutal but more so for those without our endurance - but majority thought that three events on Sunday were enough. So three events it was, for four total.

I didn't get to watch but have been seeing lots of results posted on the various FB groups i belong to.

It is really good to see people who we converse with albeit virtually on here/other groups doing so well.

Particularly impressed by Elizabeth, was impressed when i first exchanged messages on the Endurance thread and sw her FM performance in a WR a mere 22mins faster than her nearest rival this season. I continue to be impressed by the feats of athleticism she displays and hopefully i do not mebaress her!

Not to detract from the excellent performances by many others of courts.

Ahhh, I did wonder - thanks for letting us know Stu. I used to love following his training thread with all of the sessions the polar opposite of yours - eg 40x1min on/off at various rates/pace and rarely if ever a longer contiguous piece than 500m. Like you with yours, he also seemed to do pretty well off his regime! I wish him all the best....
