If I had children or pets, I would not leave it upright. But I don't, any more. I happen to have the space to leave it horizontal, but for many years I stored it upright in the corner of a studio apt.
And if I did have children or pets, I'd consider the IKEA fix. Fasten a hook to the wall and wrap with a bungee cord. I think one of the expensive subscription brands does an expensive version of that.
Indeed, Peleton provides a wall mount out of the box, where some reviewers think it might have something to do with legal liability as a consequence of their treadmill issues (i believe this relates to it: https://abcnews.go.com/GMA/News/parents ... d=78964303).

There are wall-mounts for Concept2, Rogue fitness makes one: https://www.roguefitness.com/rogue-row-hanger-black

Personally, I'm a bit sceptical about this setup, as it hangs the entire rower (26 kg) onto the back leg, where the force is at a 90 degree angle of what it is supposed to take. I don't know if the bolts will take such a repeating way of stress (but that me the more cautious side of me).

Interesting. I wouldn't want to lift the rower, even a few inches to put on the rack. I think the impact/scraping (on the wall/floor as well as the rower) would not be a good thing.

I'd sooner have it bear its own weight and just secure it against falling over.

P.S. I have an OG and a 2G Model D, and breaking them apart is not 100% effortless or risk-free. I'm not saying it is a serious bother or hazard, but you need to get it lined up and there's a substantial clamp you have to align and keep your fingers out of. Personally, I find tilting it upright (even sliding it sideways a bit while upright) much more convenient.

Another benefit of having the erg ready to go, with no extra work required to reposition or assemble it, is that it's easier to just hop on. It takes away one more little excuse you might use (consciously or not) to justify not rowing if you aren't feeling 100%.

If I am not mistaken, to hang the rower on the rear leg as in the pictures on the Rogue website,
you have to turn the machine 180° while it already stands vertical to bring it with the leg(s)
toward the wall. I don't think this can be done rolling, lifting doesn't seem straightforward either.
So you likely would have to drag it over the floor and agein when taking it off the wall.
Perhaps some kind of mat can avoid damage, but I think I will try something different :)

You can roll it on the front, there are two wheels there. If you pull the machine towards the wall, and start to lift the back legs, I guess it is quite natural.

Yes, you can roll it to the wall, but if you then put it straigt up, the legs point away from from the wall.
So if you want to hang it on a hanger by the rear leg, you will have to turn it 180° around (it's longitudinal axis :))

No, JaapvanE means to roll it towards the wall backwards gradually lifting up the legs. So you end up with standing rower at the wall in the right direction to hang it up.

Aha, I see :)
But once I lift the rear of my C2 about 45°to 60° up, the wheels will no longer roll since
then the cap that covers the wheels hit the floor.
It still requires dragging the machine over the floor in order to reach the wall.
This will certainly damage the wheel assemblies.

Yes, that's right. The rollers are not intended to perform this movement and to hook the rower up you need to lift it anyway.
I would probably use the mentioned technique to stand up the rower in the right direction near to the wall and then lift it up and attach it to the wall. But obviously this will only work, if you are strong enough to lift the upward rower over at least a meter. Surely not the best solution in terms of handling.

I am so glad that I can leave my rowing machine where it is.... 😄

Tried it today. The machine will stay about 1.5 meters away from the wall, to far for me to carry.
But when it stands vertical, it is possible to lift the wheels a bit of the floor and drag/slide it to the wall on the "nose".
Protected, or if some "harmless material is in place, it may be possible to move it while upright without damage.
I feel a solution is nearby :D I did notice that when the rower stands vertical, it may be best to cover not only the fan,
but also the opening for the chain since dust can fall right into the interior.

Use a towel placed under the nose to protect floor and nose. Probably the one you used during the workout.
