Hello! I’ve had my skierg a little over a year and use it frequently part of other workouts or for longer slower sessions.
I’ve decided to dedicate myself to really learning about how properly use this machine. There is quite a bit of variation when searching YouTube or other resources for the ‘correct’ technique. The one I’m interested in shows the skier with 90 degree arms, going hat to hips, and having a stroke rate between 40 and 60. It seems like that’s what’s coming from the experts, but feels a little awkward. I generally try not to over extend, but have a longer pull and slower stroke rate.
Is there a good resource I’m missing on developing efficient technique?
Skierg Technique
Re: Skierg Technique
The basic choice seems to be between single and double poling according to ski mode, alternating or skating and slope, if you want to try the snow.
This would seem to give a complete workout for double:

I found the Dark Horse videos on YouTube to be useful. It's definitely a shorter sharper stroke than rowing imo and SR's will be higher as a result. I calculate that R24 on a rower is like R41 on the Skierg.....around 1.7x higher. Getting used to those rates is key as that's a lot of body movement a lot of times.Grogs84 wrote: ↑January 2nd, 2023, 8:35 amHello! Re: Skierg Technique
I've had mine a bit longer, but I've not used it as much. I decided to the Pete Plan for Beginners using the ski. I'm on week 14. My ratio is a tad lower, but it's close. The DF is another thing I see a lot of differing opinions on. I just recently started going lower. I used 68 on a 10k and 78 on 4x8min 2r intervals.winniewinser wrote: ↑January 5th, 2023, 6:10 amI found the Dark Horse videos on YouTube to be useful.
