Looking for Training Partners

Post by Sling-shot » January 4th, 2023, 7:57 am

Well the New Year has come and gone and i have set myself some fitness goals. Prior to Christmas i hurt my back and have been out of action for almost 2 months. Now im ready to improve on my fitness in 2023. So far i've managed a 5km row everyday with only a 2:10 - 2:08 pace. (im 51 male, Uk heavy weight).

If anyone wants a training partner to help motivate and encourage of a similar level of fitness please contact me ( i only broke 10km 40mins once so far and miles away from that just now). I'm new to rowing only about a year and only have a couple of work colleagues as training partners, but alas they are never rowing nowadays. I think we could help each other achieve our goals for 2023.

Not sure you will find a "training partner" here or not but regardless we all will help with guidance, support and experience. I found this forum some years ago when I was first getting more involved with ERGing and it has been very integral to things I have accomplished or want to accomplish.

Fully agree to Keith post. I started last year January and found this forum - it motivated me and I got much information about several details. I also joined a virtual team because of a forums user 🙃

Hi! Responding a little late to this prompt, but if you're interested in following along the beginner pete plan, there's a thread with a few folks going through it right now, and posting results & encouragement for each other. Maybe that would be something up your alley?

As a thought there are a number of facebook teams/groups for indoor rowing which are great for motivation/support on a day to day basis, but not so good for 'technical' discussions/questions IMHO.
Age 61, on 2/01/22 I rowed 115,972m 11hrs 17m 57s and raised £19k for https://www.havenshospices.org.uk/ Thanks for all the support

If you are looking to "row along" someone, you could look at EXR (paid app, free trial available). Via the EXR discord group we organize about three group rows a week (rowing together in the app from a specific starting point, with a certain pace). Some row 2000 meters, some a half marathon. If that's your thing, you are welcome to join.
