Nice going again but was always going to be a substantial PB.
Makes me envious seeing people posting PBs when I'm just getting older and slower
Thx Nick, hopefully this is not the end of my PB journey till I hit the point of stagnation and regress...

#TOC today - 2k
I did not feel great to go for a TT today, as my legs, calves and also a bit upper body were not fully recovered from my Monday gym session. But I planned it, so I did it
Based on my experience with the recent 500m I increased DF to 144 in expectation that I can reduce the rate to ~30 throughout and rely a bit more on my strength.
Plan was to go with 1:41 flat.
To have more detailed split data I programmed 250m splits:
Code: Select all
Time Meters Pace Watts Cal/Hr S/M HR
6:46.5 2,000m 1:41.6 333 1447 30 171
0:50.5 250m 1:41.0 340 1469 30 160
0:50.6 250m 1:41.2 338 1462 28 168
0:50.7 250m 1:41.4 336 1455 30 172
0:51.0 250m 1:42.0 330 1435 28 172
0:50.8 250m 1:41.6 334 1448 31 174
0:51.1 250m 1:42.2 328 1428 31 174
0:51.2 250m 1:42.4 326 1421 32 174
0:50.7 250m 1:41.4 336 1455 33 175
I felt very early that I was not going to get 1:41 done the whole race, so reduced the pace a tiny bit, but tried to stay below 1:42. Obviously not possible all the time, but satisfied with the result

At a certain point you can no longer prevent it.
I started seriously using the C2 back in May 2003 and hit my PB zone in late 2005. I hit a serious illness 2006/07 and without that I think I would have continued to set PBs into my early 50s but will never know.

Thx, right
Perhaps even more impressive when you know that I had to bail on my last TT attempt in the 4th 500m split, but after ~5s I got back and finished the 2k
This time I was in control of the race all time. 3 month between both attempts.

Oh, I am sorry to read this.
Beginning of the year, soon after I bought the C2, I got some serious intestinal problems, combined with covid, which lead me to pause for two month and lose 5kg bodyweight. Now it seems I am back on track. This shows directly how important health is.

Even for a 3 month gap, 10s is enormous in 2k PB terms. So we'll expect 6:35 by Easter and sub 6:30 sometime next summer. Enjoy some basking meantime...

hey Sacha, just saw the 2k PB. What a great way to finish the year and it looks like a pretty good, well paced event too. Well done to slow down and re-focus your split target early in the race before you wore yourself out too much.
Congratulations!

Thank you much Nick!
I didn't want to crash and burn like in the last attempt, so I thought it would be a better idea to realign to current performance
Last weeks went really well, on the rower as well as in the gym. No health issues (even though I was surrounded by ill people all over the place!), no strains, nothing at all only good trainings

It was the back end of 2008 before I got back to some sort of competitive fitness level. Did a 6.24 at Birc 2008 and won gold in the 50-54 MHWT race age 51 but also did a 6.24 age 54 on Rowpro so wasn't back to full potential in 2008.
Birc 2007 was a 6.38 but was only 4 months after cancer op.

Oh, wow, that is serious stuff!
Hopefully you never went back into this again!
4 month after surgery this time is very impressive (it is anyway, but with this fact even more
).

Sometimes you have to go for it regardless of your feelings.
Difference for me is between "I feel not good" or "I am completely wasted and no hard session ever makes sense"
The day was in the first group, so...

New 100m PB
I started training for the 100m sprint on 25th September, no really too sure what strategy to follow.
In the end i focussed on increasing my spm, starts and weights (DL/Squats/Upright rowing).
The biggest improvements in power/speed seem to have come his month.
My low pull has gone from 1:21.x (a rolling effort) to a solid 1:16.x from a standing start.
I have seen 805W on the PM5 once and high 790s a few times.
My spm have risen to an average of 49spm (over two 100m TT i did yesterday 15mins apart).
My pb has now dropped to 15.9s for the 100m (although the PM5 kindly rounds it up to 16.0) which puts me no.2 in the UK so far this season and tied at No.9 WW for my age/weight (verified times).
I am not done with this yet, will keep training over the next few weeks see if i can get faster.
