Obviously not a ranking distance, but needed to get a 500m done for the CTC and didn't want to make a full on 500m attempt. But I didn't save myself any pain by doing 600m, instead!

Thanks. The 30min was one of those rows that I often did as my slow row, but never fast(er). There are many others left (60min, HM, FM, …) Maybe now during the break there will time to try one of those longer distances.

Thanks Stu, Im confident of getting into the 15.x bracket, hopefuly over the next week, I have a session today followed by weights tomorrow, then my plan is to atack the 100m sprint 24th (assuming i am allowed on the erg that is!) which will be a true test, fingers crossed.Dangerscouse wrote: ↑December 19th, 2022, 4:38 pmThat's a really big improvement on your previous PB. Long term ill return to endurance rowing but will continue with weights and see if i cannot build the strength necessary to get into the low 15/high14s maybe. Who knows could be deluding myself
Age 61, on 2/01/22 I rowed 115,972m 11hrs 17m 57s and raised £19k for https://www.havenshospices.org.uk/ Thanks for all the support

High 14s will be an immense effort, but you've definitely got to aim for it.

It will be, its difficult to know how far one can go, its easy to get carried away, but as i, and others have found out, with consistent training in the right direction, signfciantly improvements still come.Dangerscouse wrote: ↑December 20th, 2022, 7:34 amHigh 14s will be an immense effort, but you've definitely got to aim for it.
I need to be able to generate about another 80-90 watts to put me in the right ballpark for high 14s, compared with my last effort
Im just outside the top ten for my age/weight of verified pieces, if i get under 16.0 Friday i will be in the top ten, so i am quietly confident there is more to come in that direction.
Whether i can get into the 14s only time will tell.

Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!
#TOC today - 2k
I did not feel great to go for a TT today, as my legs, calves and also a bit upper body were not fully recovered from my Monday gym session. But I planned it, so I did it
Based on my experience with the recent 500m I increased DF to 144 in expectation that I can reduce the rate to ~30 throughout and rely a bit more on my strength.
Plan was to go with 1:41 flat.
To have more detailed split data I programmed 250m splits:
I felt very early that I was not going to get 1:41 done the whole race, so reduced the pace a tiny bit, but tried to stay below 1:42. Obviously not possible all the time, but satisfied with the result
