Kudos to Concept2 !

One thing about these Concept2 challenges (the ones that suddenly catch yer eye!) is that I keep discovering how awesome their redesign of the Ergdata app truly is AND how sortable the Concept2 folks have made the Honorboards for the WOD Challenges. It was with some dismay that I initially looked at the numbers of row ergers who had completed yesterday's challenge! It was 7 pages long. I'm always afraid I'll miss someone if I go through it manually. Then I saw the affiliation sort dropdown boxes! Four Lunies completed the 30 minute all out erging Challenge yesterday: 3 for RowErg (congrats to Brent, Linda H and Steve D), and one (me) for BikeErg. And ANOTHER thing I like about the ErgData app is that I can now relay heart rate from other devices automatically so I can see whether I'm going to peg out on these Challenges they throw at us!

Participation Is Picking UP !!

One WEEK out from the start of the Holiday Challenge, and it is GREAT to see that our participation numbers are up about 25 percent over this time last week. Our stats don't usually track participation counts (although...). It is always good to see a good meter deposit into the team coffers each day, but it is even more exciting as we approach these challenges to see that the Lunies are ready to get going! Cartwheels!

Kudos to Concept2 !

I also really like the updated ErgData app. There were a few hiccups here and there, but overall I've enjoyed it. I don't always do the WODs but it sure is convenient having them right there in the app. The auto uploading to the logbook is so nice too.

I find the integration between ErgData, the PM5, and the C2 logbook to be a nice motivator for both challenges and daily workouts. I also really appreciate the time you take to post up all the daily results of the Luna-tics team. It's another great motivation tool to encourage me to get my workouts in

For those who have been reindeer-less all your life, you have no idea how motivating getting your reindeer (and accessories of antlers, flashing harness, tail and ear wags) will be! The Holiday Challenge is an all time favorite in the Concept2 universe. Participation soars into the 25-30 K range, and the virtual dollars raised by our meter production is very satisfying! Take a couple of minutes to navigate in your logbook to the Challenges page, and sign up for the Concept2 charity choice that appeals to you. After all, you will never work this hard for $2 in the real world - and it helps to be part of something bigger than your own meter logbook. And, if you're also motivated by the shiny Concept2 holiday pin that will be mailed to you in January IF you complete 200K (400 K for bike ergers) AND sign up to have your meters count towards one of the Concept2 charities. Make your plans.

You know your reindeer is waiting...

The "better watch out" season is almost upon us....so do good things!

Some of you may be familiar with Muttluks, the paw protectors you cinch on yer dog's paws prior to a snowy walk. Usually you end up carrying one or two of the dog shoes back because they have kicked them off. There's also Musher's Secret which is like a wax you can put on their paws...except then they lick their paws. We'll see how we do today!

Reindeer meters aka Holiday Challenge meters are helpfully separated out by Concept2 when you look at our affiliation team page. Naturally the Honorboards are good to show us all the milestone achievers, but the affiliation page lets us see who is getting close to their next milestone. The Holiday Challenge Meter totals shown there reflect how Concept2 counts them - and helps me navigate which ones are row erg or ski erg, and which ones are bike erg....and then there are those who do a little bit of each!

Reaching 100K or more Challenge meters on the first day of the Challenge isn't a common achievement, and Chip's effort might be a Lunie first. Recent reindeer firsts were in the three or four day range!

Concept2 Universe Holiday Challenge participation is at 11,958 individuals....expected to at least double! Join in and be part of this!

Checking the backyard environs for suburban wildlife each oh dark thirty morning before I release the hounds is almost a zen experience as we head into winter. Looking up is a visual (and maybe spiritual!) treat. The night sky is so clear, and the moon is in waxing crescent phase - the stars really appear to shimmer. So bundle up, and look up when you're outside in the dark...it will be worthwhile!

Woohoo! Dasher has been Ed's go to reindeer for quite a few seasons, and getting the reindeer meters done this quickly makes a statement, Ed !
