thanks mate. I'm certain you have a good 2k PR in you given your endurance, probably now but certainly if/when you focus more on some faster stuff. But the 2k is definitely a different beast. It doesn't feel anything like either like the rhythm and control of a 5k or the glorious brevity of the 1k and below. I'd forgotten the pain
2k PR - yes, I am sure. I only need a day when feeling fresh and had no training for at least 2 days 😅
1k and below - I am not made for this. My current 1k PR is 15s off of yours 😂😂 - even if this is probably not matching my current status, yours unreachable for me. For the short stuff I am to short and lightweight compared to you 😇
And you are right - I have no focus on faster/shorter stuff, so it can't get better. Even no specific focus on rowing itself, only using it as a fun tool besides my bodyweight sessions 💪🏻

thank you! I went a little too hard at the scotch last night, so I'm not feeling too quick today. But it's in the back of my mind for an attempt if I can fit it in before we leave

To be honest, this was as much a mental battle as a physical one, given how anxious my mind can get in the early and middle stages of these tts. I spent at least an hour over the past 2 days 'planning' the time trial and preparing for the different pressure points and preparing strategies to handle them physically and mentally.

Wot they all said ^^^
Excellent stuff. That’s my sort of planned pacing, but as Tyson is credited with saying, “Everybody has a plan until they get punched in the face.”
You took the punch then came back swinging for the last 500. 👍👍
thanks Tony. the pacing certainly looks cleaner than it felt

If I could do it as a lightweight then so can you B) .....3:15 for 1k and 1:30 for 500m are doable for you.....plus you have age on your side.

You have the big advantage of height (which is much more powerful than weight) - BUT challenge accepted 😁

Stupid idea for today: 2k TT 😁😂

I did not feel it either I wanted to row today at all. But I was so motivated mentally so thought to give it a try at all costs 😅

Plan was to start with 1:42 and stick to that as long as possible.
That was the outcome:

Code: Select all

Time	Meters	Pace	Watts	Cal/Hr	S/M
6:56.5	2,000m	1:44.1	310	1366	31
1:40.0	500m	1:40.0	350	1504	32
1:41.8	500m	1:41.8	332	1441	31
1:44.8	500m	1:44.8	304	1346	32
1:49.9	500m	1:49.9	264	1207	29
1: felt so easy, so started way to fast 😂
2: felt good, but fatigue kicked in a bit
3: fatigue was getting worse 😁
4: around 5:30min mark I decided to HD. Breathing hard for few seconds I thought "wait, why not getting a new PB anyway" and started again 😂😂

What I've learned (again) today: stick to the plan 🙈

I think ~6:50 is in stock, but must be delivered.
