@Jackarabit - thank you for the warm welcome.

Well...the WOD today was right up my street for a bit of a status check on where I'm at. 6x1000m / 2min rest. Here's the result.

I reckoned I could hold 1:56 pace but just dropped off a bit at the end. 166HR is up above 90% of theoretical maximum for my age so I didn't have much to give in the end. Anyway, feeling pretty happy with that as a fair reflection of my level at the moment.
Yes, that is a piece of work and then some. Positive splitting sez all in not planned and you pushed to get near your real HRMax. Active rest meters also tells the story. Very spicey.

If you are interested in informal team comps: http://www.c2ctc.com/
Peter - Welcome to the team! Great result on the workout of the day. As Jack mentions above, there is also a Cross-Team-Challenge which provides a different challenge every month. Our team picked the challenge for August (3 intervals of 888 m with 80s rest in between). You could still sneak in a result for August if you wish. In September, there will be a new challenge. I believe it has been set at 8 interval of 2:00 with 2:00 rest in between.

For the rest of the Flyers - We only need one more person to row to get another boat off the dock in the CTC. (Jack, Linda, Shirley and I are waiting :D )

Thanks Anna Rae. Dumb newbie question...do I need to contact an admin to get set up on the CTC site?

Pete, hope this helps. I’m answering for Anna Rae because time is short to get an entry in for this month and she may not look in immediately.

Fill in the blanks. If no joy, private message admin <Citroen> who will assist or advise. Or query re: registration @ Comp subforum>topic Cross Team Challenge should also get Citroen’s attention. Below is a grab of the registration page⬇️

If the current challenge (submitted by Anna Rae by the way) interests you and you have the time to get registered, do the piece, and submit an entry, we encourage you to go for it. If not possible or inconvenient no problem whatsoever—it’s just a game and we’ll look forward to seeing you next month.

Thanks - If I'd realised to ignore the error message I'd have worked out that I'd registered successfully after all.

I just submitted a time that puts me (currently) in boat 3. Anna Rae certainly picked a tough challenge. :D

Nice effort, Pete. 8x2’ on 2’R in September should prove more deliberate and less desperate.

Glad you managed to get things sorted before the deadline.

I did my token effort just before midnight, but unfortunately we couldn't quite get Boat 7 away. It looks like there was good support overall for the month's challenge, so well done Anna on the good choice! It will be a while until our next turn, but we'll call on you closer to the time :).

We were pretty close to getting that Boat 7 away but no joy. Glad to see the last-day efforts from Peter, Chris and Dave!

Dave - thanks for the support on the choice of the challenge. It does look like it was well received and required a bit of effort, with what some felt was a short rest in-between.

I gave a go at the September one today. I really don't like those shorter sprint pieces. Ironically I thought the two-minute rest was way too long - and would have rathered just rowed straight for 30 minutes (obviously not at the sprint pace though). Will likely give it a go again later in the month and perhaps just doing a light row through the rest time (or at least through the last minute of the rest period).

IMS, participant totals in recent months’ CTChallenges clustered around 475-525. 605 entries for CRAZY EIGHTS in a month drawing folks away on holiday is not too shabby. 45 boatloads of Diamonds were not distracted from the task.

CORRECTION⬆️

Apparently (my) memory does not serve as thumbing thru recent CTC challenges indicates that Team Diamonds’ mass assault on the CTC followed a very successful membership drive in fall of 2021 (17 boats to 32 boats launched in consecutive challenges). CTC entries have averaged well over 500 to 600+ in most of the past 10 months.

I had the same overall experience and had to will myself to finish. My 8th interval was +2.2/500 slower than my 7th and that felt barely doable.

Good luck, everyone.

Elizabeth, WOW!

Great score in the CTC. Based on that I'd say that you're in sub-7:00 shape in the 2K. I'd imagine that several of your other PBs will fall as well.

Go get 'em!
55-59: 1:33.5 3:19.2 6:55.7 18:22.0 2:47:26.5
60-64: 1:35.9 3:23.8 7:06.7 18:40.8 2:48:53.6
65-69: 1:38.6 3:31.9 7:19.2 19:26.6 3:02:06.0
70-74: 1:40.2 3:33.4 7:32.6 19:50.5 3:06:36.8

Elizabeth killed the zombie and saw the carrot!

I admire Al’s precision incrementing of wattage on the first four, respecting the redline for 3, bump on final.

Great start to the CTC this month everyone who has logged a score! I'm doing my usual procrastination in between Zwift races, but I'll get there well before the end of the month.

Don't forget that the Fall Team Challenge starts today, so we need all the metres we can get added to logbooks before October 15th. You need to join the challenge (go to Teams menu in your logbook and you should see a "Join Team Challenge" button to the right). 26 of us have already signed up, so still quite a few regulars who need to click.

We've finished in the top 20 in the past 2 years, so I'd say that's a good starting goal.

I was dying during that CTC challenge. Really need get back on the erg more regularly, because the October CTC (3 x 2 km / 2 min rest) will definitely kill me
