ErgData 2.0 is horrible!
ErgData 2.0 is horrible!
I never thought I'd want to go back to the first version (or at least the only version I've ever known) of ErgData, but every single time I use the new one, it drops connection mid-workout. I'll be one-handed rowing, trying to mash the screen to get it to reconnect. And it will, but it starts the workout over!
It's just trash the way it is. I can't believe it uninstalled the older version to give out this whacky version that is clearly not ready for release.
Why does this always drop the connection? Why can't I use the USB cord?
In all fairness, I can't say it's the app, as it could just be my bluetooth connection. But either way - I cannot use the new app, it's too unreliable.
Are we expecting any patches for increased connectivity?

Re: ErgData 2.0 is horrible!
I'm staying with the old version, C2 literally only needed to update it once if I recall and that was over years and years.
The old version does everything I want and never saw the need to change anything really.
It should never been an auto update that wiped the old version, never good for people that need to roll back but they do that with the PM firmware as well, there is no public "Legacy" version page you can download it from if you have issues with a newer version and do a roll back.
Pretty sure someone found where you can still get the old version.

Re: ErgData 2.0 is horrible!
Ergdata 2 has never dropped connection here. I prefer it. It has stopped recording drag factor though. Hopefully that’ll be fixed soon. I’m on iOS.
Version one is available on the App Store and Google play store as ergdata for pm3 pm4. Hope that helps.

Re: ErgData 2.0 is horrible!
I think I had a connection drop yesterday (some popup came up, and the screen was rotated), but it seemed to recover independently without user intervention.ukaserex wrote: ↑August 27th, 2022, 10:11 pmI never thought I'd want to go back to the first version (or at least the only version I've ever known) of ErgData, but every single time I use the new one, it drops connection mid-workout. In all honesty, I've been using it for several months now and aside a recording issue in 2.0.5, it is quite reliable. Could be the combination of hardware and software that is problematic. In the beta, the explicitly required a PM5 with the last firmware updates. That might be the issue. If not: drop C2 an e-mail, as they are extremely responsive to these kind of issues (mine were fixed within two days).
Re: ErgData 2.0 is horrible!
No problem with lost connection. Minor irritations with DF not recording - mine did for a couple of sessions when someone else mentioned it but now it doesn’t; and every week or two I have to log back into it, then manually connect my PM5 and heart rate monitor.
I like the setting up workouts on the app and WOD just being there.

Re: ErgData 2.0 is horrible!
I've stopped using the ErgData app. I have never had these kind of issues with the old app. I like the new design, but it loses the connection to the PM5. I was doing intervals and when it should have said Interval 3 it said Inverval 0. I kept working out and it recorded the other intervals, but that interval recorded 0 meters. Also I had it just stop communicating to the PM5 during a workout. I'll wait for another update before using it again. The PM5 firmware is up to date. I have an older iphone, but it is up to date with any ios updates.

Go back to the old version you can find the info here for Android.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... datapm3pm4
Wow that's not actually the old V1.98 version and its deliberately been changed so you cannot connect it to the PM5 !!!
I guess if you had an old phone its still there and didn't auto update on you, sometimes it pays to stay with the old stuff.
Hopefully the new version will be sorted by the time the phone I use finally dies.

Re: ErgData 2.0 is horrible!
I just uninstalled all versions of ErgData and used an app called File Manager Plus from the Play store to save and transfer ErgData V1.98 via Bluetooth to my new phone and installed it. Its only a 2.2Meg file.

No idea if the new phone will try and auto update it again, I guess I will find out.

Re: ErgData 2.0 is horrible!
I like the way it automatically connects to my Apple Watch to report heart rate and it writes to the Apple health app too which records the data, closes the rings on the watch and tells me how it’s going to spank if I don’t pull harder and eat all of my vegetables. Yeah, I like it.Joebasscat wrote: ↑August 28th, 2022, 4:15 pmSame here as GreenStratMan.
