Model E upgrade PM4 to PM5

Post by AndyT665 » April 22nd, 2022, 4:14 am

Hi all, I have had my model E with its PM4 since 2007. The PM4 is starting to misbehave so I am going to get a new PM5. I'm keen to use the PM5 bluetooth with ErgData on either an iphone or ipad. I was wondering whether to get the revised mount with the built in device holder or just leave the original fixed arm. Has anybody replaced the model E arm and is it worth doing? Any advice appreciated. Many thanks.

Nothing needed. It's one bolt to loosen, swap the cables over, replace the bolt and you're done.

Replacing the arm is entirely separate to replacing the monitor.

Citroen, Thanks for the quick reply. I appreciate you can just swap out the PM4 for the PM5, but I see there is an option on the C2 shop to purchase the the PM5 with the device holder/mounting hardware and wondered if anybody had any thoughts on that set up? Thanks.

Older Model E has a fixed metal arm that you cannot replace with current plastic arm that includes a device holder. If you could somehow mount the new plastic arm on top of the fixed Model E arm, it might be a bit too tall, where your tablet may be at eye level, but the monitor would be too high. That and the wiring may not reach that set up.

To replace the arm on a Model E you'd have to replace large parts of the front end. The arm is rigidly bolted to the flywheel assembly.

The new Rowerg does the "Model E" stuff (higher monorail) in an entirely different way (longer legs). The arm design has reverted to being the same as on the "normal" Rowerg with the short legs.

Thanks for the replies.
I may be being daft, but the following links make it sound possible and straightforward:

https://shop-uk.concept2.com/performanc ... ice_holder
(using part 2565)

Am I missing something?

Thanks all

You may be missing the redesign from the Model E ergo (discontinued in April 2021) to the Rowerg with model E legs.
Call Concept2 on Monday on 0115 9340140.

No I think you're right, it looks like it would fit. I didn't think there was a separate model E retrofit.

All, if it helps anybody, I ordered the PM5 and retrofit arm for my model E and it all fits great.
