Pink Floyd/ wish you were here / I'm on my second copy of darkside and echoes, gorillaz /laika come home
Some classic blues brothers. REM /out of time.
18/moby. Volare/ gypsy Kings.
The chill out sessions ministry of sound, favourites/2001/2002
Some classic motown, and some acid jazz/ matt Berry. Fleetwood mac, 10cc, Simon and garfunkle, paolo nutini, Jack Jones.
Some crackers in there again. Blues Brothers soundtrack is in my all time Top 10, due to the wonderful memories and Proustian rush I get when I listen to it.

I love soul music too. 100 Proof Aged in Soul are a criminally unknown soul band, highly recommend them.

Oh oh! I quite like 100 Proof Aged in Soul! I discovered them at my friend's wedding party, where Everything Good is Bad was on. Apparently, that particular track was the idea of his wedding planners from loveandlavender.com. Funny how that works!

What a tune!!!! Perfect soul music. I'm always amazed how soul music, that quite often has heart breaking lyrics, is played at weddings. For example Freda Payne's 'Band of Gold'

Couldn't agree more! There's something bittersweet about it to me that just feels right for weddings somehow!

I think the cords, melody and hooks are ideal and belie the, occasionally, sorrowful lyrics.

I love that Jitwam album. His other two are great too.

100 Proof you can get on Amazon, but it's £10.50, but it's a double album (100 Proof and Somebody's Been Sleeping In My Bed). Both are very good.

Funky Kingston is an all time classic funky ska album.

Yes already its in my favourite list, not what I was expecting at all, Grace note didn't recognise the album, so I had to manually input all the track details, which heightened the anticipation.
I eventually settled down with coffee about 9, and then I thought what is this, the album transported me to harlem in the 70s for some reason, and it was a really enjoyable time, over too soon I hit replay with out even thinking about it, not many albums do that.
Some great reccomendations in the Dangerscouse music thread
😎👍

I'm looking forward to funky kingston

Late to the game on this thread, but I just finished ripping 500 cds to my Synology NAS. It's been quite a project, but now that I'm done, I have access to all of my music in lossless files from anywhere.

I highly recommend!

Hi Mitchell never too late, what are your favourites..

My album of the week well two actually, both have a special place in my heart because I lived and breathed the era.

Nothing says cool Britania like these two albums from the 90's,when we so nearly won the euros, Ian Wright playing footie in the park with his mates, too much drink and smoke, when Britain let its hair down and relaxed, and let rip. Its also a nod to our love affair with all things American, and the state of being british.
This isn't brit pop, it's so much more and has nothing to do with your vir sprung dirk tekneek ya know...
Yea baby 😊👍

I've strange musical tastes which run a wide gamut. I've settled into a bit of a rut while rowing. For my 10k rows I listen to the Broadway cast album of Jesus Christ Superstar. It runs just over 45 minutes which keeps my steady state pace honest as I try to finish just after the last notes. 30 minute rows are a live John Mayer album which oddly has the first several songs at almost exactly 5 minutes each. This helps me mark the time very evenly.

Interval pieces could be some old Jethro Tull albums or some bluegrass depending on my mood.

Interesting, I remember the jesus christ superstar album on vinyl back in 79 when I started training as a nurse, back in the day when we had nursing accommodation and a fun night in those days was bring an album and a bottle of cheap wine.
On the night I wasn't really impressed, but over the following days I found myself singing, well more humming segments of the album, eventually I bought it, but it was lost in time.
Fourty odd years later, I can remember half the album, since you mentioned it.. 😊 👍
