Uff da! The Lunie Challenge team took a 25 percent hit through week 2, and now there are 40 stalwart Lunies still in the Hunt for the Dog Days of Summmrr Challenge! Alas, I was one who fell off the Challenge list - had an MRI on the left knee (previously called the "good" knee) EARLY this AM. Think I ripped something up.

Re: LUNA-TICS TEAM ROOM: Year-round "Looney" fun.

Post by Jodi » August 16th, 2022, 11:38 am

Hello fellow Luna-tics,
It's been awhile since I've checked in, or even rowed for that matter, as we've been in the process of moving from NY to CO. Just getting my rowing machine unpacked and ready to use again, but am still getting used to the higher altitude, so it may be a while until I'm acclimated. And there's so much to do here with trails and hikes, camping and so many outdoor activities to take advantage of that it's hard to commit to stay inside on such beautiful days. :) We've even got a friends who are going to take us kayaking in a few weeks! I've never been, so it should be fun.
But I'm definitely looking forward to getting back in the Concept II saddle and keeping updated with what's going on with my fellow Luna-tics.

On a side note, if you've ever considered using 1-800-PackRat for your moving needs I'd advise you not to. They lost our container (they found it eventually, but the truck had broken down in Virginia and they couldn't find a driver to get it to Colorado) and it was delivered 10 days late. We're still waiting for them to pick up the empty container over a week past the pick up date. It's been a nightmare experience, so keep that in mind if you have need of a self-loading moving service.

I'll check back in as often as possible and hope everyone is doing well. :)

That's funny. I just wondering "I wonder what's up with Jodi. Haven't heard from her in a while".
Sorry about the moving issues.
Colorado is beautiful. I'm sure that you will enjoy it there. Hopefully you will still find some time for erging with all the great outdoor activities to enjoy.

Team Evergreen is the largest cycling club in Colorado, and they host an event called the Triple ByPass each year. It is a spectacular journey over the course of three mountain passes (Juniper, Loveland, and Vail) with ride elevation gained of over 10,000 ft. Riders come from all over the US, and many other countries. It is a bucket list item for many! Today is the day of the ride, and it looks like it might be a bit chilly up on the mountain passes! I volunteered yesterday at the packet pickup - they'd had this for Wednesday, Thursday and Friday - plus an option to have your stuff mailed to you. Some of the riders were just pulling into town. Riders from Chile, Mexico, France, Canada were in the bunch. The excitement level for staff getting the ride event ready, and riders getting ready to pit themselves against the mountain passes was off the charts good. I recommend volunteering at these kinds of events! They almost always need help, the energy is great, you meet a lot of other volunteers who are doing interesting things, and...you get a free t-shirt. :D

I'd be willing to help out with something like that! Just remind me when it's getting close next year. :D
