ErgData App won't connect to PM5

Post by ccme » August 6th, 2022, 4:23 pm

2 weeks ago I began my workout after coming home from vacation to a new look on the ErgData app v2.0.3(3)...evidently an automatic update. The first thing I had to do was reconnect the app to my concept 2's PM5 Hardware: 502 Firmware: 32. Problem is that while the PM5 says that it is connected, the ErgData app progress wheel spins in perpetuity saying that it is still trying to connect. Concept 2 support's only recommendation was to remove the PM5's batteries and retry. That of course didn't help. I deleted the ErgData app from my iPhone Xs iOS 15.6 and reinstalled it, but the problem persists after 2 weeks. The ErgData app will still not connect to the PM5. Any thoughts?

Yes there are Bluetooth hardware problems with the first Gen PM5's that they cannot simply fix in the PM5 firmware.

I have to run my older phone with my older PM5 or it doesn't even connect.

You have to either run the older version of ErgData with an older phone or start updating your hardware.

I will be staying with my old Samsung A3(2017) phone and a 1st Gen PM5 on V32 and ErgData V1.98 until something dies.

New version asks me for my birthday, so I'd have to scroll through 960 pages of months to get there.

2024: stroke 5.5W-min@20-21. ½k 190W, 1k 145W, 2k 120W. Using Wods 4-5days/week. Fading fast.

Thanks Carl Watts, But I don't understand: I've been using the same iPhone with the same PM5 for years. What has changed with the hardware that won't work now?

This forum was intended for self-support of those developing software for the PM3/4/5 and reporting bugs in the API's, documentation etc. It is best to forward ErgData or PM5 firmware bugs or concerns to info@concept2.com.

I will report the 'scrolling through months' usability issue to the team to discuss.

The early PM5 issue is being worked on. The problem right now is the developers and our internal testers cannot reproduce it in house. First step is to make sure you have the latest PM5 firmware. If you are having problems connecting to a PM5v1 (ie firmware 32) please contact info@concept2.com and say you are having connection problems. We may invite you to test a beta version of ErgData that has additional logging to assist our developers.

'scrolling through months'
Solved this by going through PC in the log page, top right button; much simpler in general, apart from forgotten PWs.
