Re: Cross Team Challenge - Discussion Thread
Rules 6 Use of slides,
It states it is undetermined whether slides are an advantage or not and can be used.
I believe at a short distance they are a huge advantage and was evident in the May CTC, I assume everyone they used them would agree.
Everyone that has the option to use slides also has the option to go static so it would not take away the opportunity to row the CTC for anyone, just ensure an even playing field.
I would like to make a proposal that slides are not longer permitted to be used.

Re: Cross Team Challenge - Discussion Thread
Whitby Friendship ARC have chosen the July Challenge:
Whitby's 199 Steps
10 x 199 metres rest 1 min
Standing or rolling starts may be used, presumably after the opener. Just to be clear, the one minute rest is following each work interval.
This is a Dracula themed distance; there are 199 steps up to the ruins of Whitby Abbey where some of the action was set in the novel.
Regards,
Joe

Re: Cross Team Challenge - Discussion Thread
All changes to CTC rules are decided by democratic vote. If you wish this to be implemented, please set up a poll on Google or other platform. This has to be accessible by C2 Forum and facebook users.AndyTomlinson wrote: ↑June 24th, 2022, 4:20 pmRules 6 Use of slides,

Re: Cross Team Challenge - Discussion Thread
The MAD Team continued on their winning way with a victory in the June CTC. Congratulations!
The Diamonds launched an outstanding total of 41 boats. Well done!
Future Challengers:
August: Forum Flyers
September: Row Along
October: The Diamonds
There's ongoing discussion about the use of slides in CTC challenges. Whatever the outcome, they are allowed in this month's challenge.

Joe

Link to a poll on sliders here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1fXzGh ... =drivesdk
Results will be posted at the end of the month on this thread and on FB.
Re: Cross Team Challenge - Discussion Thread
Where can I find the rules for challenges?
I understand that the challenge must be programmable on a PM2. If that's true, how can I find what's programmable on a PM2? I don't see a YouTube video, and the C2 site is not specific enough.

Re: Cross Team Challenge - Discussion Thread
Full details of the PM2 operation are found here:
https://www.concept2.com/files/pdf/us/m ... nstall.pdf
There's no facility for variable intervals on the PM2. For instance, one of the challenges I completed back in 2006 was the Rugby Test. This required varying both distance work intervals and timed rest intervals. To do this using the PM2, I had to set a stopwatch and treat each work interval as a separate row. Not the easiest thing when you're going flat-out in a challenge. This challenge was allowed back then in the early months of the CTC but provoked such a backlash from PM2 users that nothing so complicated has been set since then.
Well, sixteen years have passed and, it's just a guess, but there's probably few users of the PM2 now.
A separate issue is that the ancient but venerable CTC software does not allow timed intervals other than for whole numbers of minutes. This is from my fallible memory but Dougie will correct me if I'm wrong.
Regards,
Joe

Good day.
Please can you remove Richard SA score from the July CTC as it was accidentally submitted under a wrong username and weight division.
Many thanks

Re: Cross Team Challenge - Discussion Thread
I made a mistake on the July challenge (did 190m intervals instead of 199). Could you please delete my score.
