Major ergdata update? Looks awesome!

Post by edward.jamer » July 8th, 2022, 4:09 pm

Did a short row earlier today, and ergdata had completely changed. Still looking around the new app, but really impressed so far. Great job to whoever put it together!

But why does it force us to log in though? I was perfectly happy with storing my data locally and not having to share a bunch of information with a third party.

I'm out injured at present so cannot fully test it.

Looks like you can set up a list of PM5's now and set one as a favourite so it automatically connects now ?

That would probably be the major improvement for me in reducing my setup time as it's pretty long winded running RowPro as well.

Love the look of the updated app - rowed two sessions this morning. Fixed distance recorded and logged into the logbook - which you can now see in the app! But my cooldown "just row" session was not captured by the app at all - even though it remained connected and fully functional.

Another great feature is the ability to set target zones for HR and cadence.

I tried it today and yes, it looks awesome!
There have been 2 reasons for me to use ergzone from time to time, the possibility to program the workout on the phone and rowing distances <100m /<20'' , both works with ergdata now.
There are some other features for sure, I'll have a deeper look at it soon :)
@ Carl: all the best, hope you're well soon!

Discovered the ergdata update when I went to row this morning.

I can understand the improved functionality, is there any way of transferring stored workout structures on the rower PM5 into the app?

Thanks.
Bob

Is this still happening ? I'd guess they intended "just row" sessions to work ...

(I am still using the older ergdata version, so can't check)

I had no problem this morning. I did a test Just Row for 2”. Hit Just Row in the app and rowed 2”. When finished hit the 3 little dots in the upper left hand corner. You get options. One is to save and view logbook entry. Chose that and all was well. Went back to the logbook selection and it updated. No issue with Just Row.

Thank you. The new ergdata kindle version is not out yet, so I can't try the new version. Glad just row is working, I use that all the time for warmups and long sessions.

Don't think an "update" was necessary. I was fine with the prior version and liked the operation and look/feel of the screen/data options better.

The 1st time that I saw/used the update was today. My normal routine is to do two 5km sessions.

During the 1st session, I had no problems logging in or with the synch to the logbook w/the update BUT when hit the button with the circular clockwise arror in the workout screen, the egadate app went into a loop and I got 2 error codoes on my PM5:

487-3000
487-86

. . . with a message to contact Concept2 if the codes come back.

Did a hard reset on my PM5 and the codes did not come back again during the 2nd session but (of course) I did not hit the button (mentioned above and don't think I ever will again).

Is there was way to revert back to the prior version of ergdata? If so, I'd like to do that.

Interesting. I got a msg that my sensor wire was damaged. Since the night before I had a grandson visit, I assumed the worst. Hard to control a 3 yr old. Anyway everything is working fine and the msg hasn’t repeated itself. New wire is on the way just in case. Gives me pause now.

Worked out how to do it. On the new ERG data app if go to online log and can highlight previous workouts and then favorite them, then appear in favorite list and can be done as a work out.

Am likely the new app. Thanks.

I believe the old version is still available on the App Store. Scroll down and look for ErgData for PM3 PM4. Not sure if that would work with the PM5 or not.

Thanks! Upon reviewing some of the other threads, looks like I"m not the only person who was happy w/the old version.

I just downloaded the PM3/4 version and it looks the same as the sone I was using before. Will try it w/my PM5 later when I do my daily routine.
