2k PB 7:10:4. 9 seconds faster than previous. Was obviously hoping for sub 7 but asthma has been a bit sketchy recently and puffing quite a bit. Maybe next time!

Big thanks to @recess for the 2k redux plan.
That's a great improvement, and hopefully sub 7 isn't far off. Asthma must be very distracting, as I get some sort of breathing issue when I'm really going for it, and that's bad enough
Thank you 👍 Distracting would be a good way to describe it. Tight chested and a bit breathless so it played with my head going into it more than the row itself.

I had exercise induced asthma once. I was preparing for my ultra distances, and 85k into a 100k I got it, which I later found out was due to the fierce air conditioning that pulled in the air from outside (it was the end of November in England). Absolutely horrible , and I didn't have a clue what was going on. To have the spectre of that looming over you, and possibly a whole lot worse, must be tough to keep out of your thoughts.

Hi,

Started to row two months ago and it really became a passion. Greatly improved my back and lungs.

Finally beat 5k under 20m.

19:58.4 5,000m 1:59.8 24
4:03.8 1,000m 2:01,9 25
3:57,9 2,000m 1:58,9 25
3:58,0 3,000m 1:59,0 24
3:59,0 4,000m 1:59,5 24
3:59,6 5,000m 1:59,8 25

Still smoking one and half pack of cigarettes per day but looks like C2 will make me to quit.

Well done. Sub 20 is a significant milestone, and if it stops you smoking that's even better

very well done on the PR and breaking such a meaningful barrier. it looks like a nicely paced row.

and yes, good luck on dropping the smokes. that would be a huge win

new 30 min PR and finally broke 8k!

this actually started as a 30r22, because I wasn't feeling it this morning, but the first 10 mins at r22 felt pretty strong and I decided to up the rate and see what I had in the tank. I took my foot off the gas a little for 10 mins after half way to ensure I could finish the 30 and then started accelerating with 5 mins left and had to average 1.45 for the final 90 seconds to get under the target. I'm sure there's still a little more with a more consistent pace and some more mental strength, but I'm really happy to have broken this barrier. I've cut down on the sprint intervals and been doing more longer rows the last 6 weeks and it appears to have paid dividends. I'd like to have another crack at a 5k before the end of the month if I can squeeze one in, albeit I'm travelling with work next week so it may be tough.

Great effort Nick. Big milestone to break and you could no doubt sneak out a few extra metres with a less Baradine stroke rate and pace.

Nice work.

Big milestone to break, well done Nick.

I think you're being modest with a "little more". You're possibly basing your thoughts on how you feel after having to get it down to 1:45 pace. That will distort your perceived effort as opposed to a more steady ratcheting up of pressure.
