Thanks guys all helpful suggestions and i would prefer to get back one the indoor rower. prior to my bicep tear i was building up to the NZ indoor rowing champs and the masters games. was absolutely gutted that i couldnt attend.
i need to sort out my head before anything else so will be working on that.
FWIW

You may find joining one of the online erging/rowing teams helps with motivation. I joined Sub 7 when i started and recently moved to The Diamonds a FB group for those in their (60tyh year) basically anyone 59 up.

The group is probably pretty typical in that we have some who for their age are world record holders, then there is the majority, just a bunch on 'joes/jos' bumping along giving each other encouragement, exchanging training ideas/weight loss ides, etc.

If it helps might be helpful to see others in the same position.
Age 61, on 2/01/22 I rowed 115,972m 11hrs 17m 57s and raised £19k for https://www.havenshospices.org.uk/ Thanks for all the support

well my new refurbished Model C arrived last week. after a weekend spent moving things around in my spare rooms i now have an Office/Hobby/Erg room. i spent a bit of time assembling the erg yesterday and that was a mission. i had a real brain fade while doing it and it took a lot longer than i should have. however it got done. then i spent a bit of time to set it up and changed the PM3 that it came with to the new PM5 that i got at the same time. then i did a bit of a play around setting the Df etc.
one thing i will say is that it is ridiculously smooth compared to the gym ergs i have used in the past.
first session in anger will be tonight when i am looking at doing a 5k if i can handle it after not being on an erg in many many months. :D :D

going good.
logged just under 90,000m since i have had it. so much easier having my own... i actually make the effort to get off the couch and walk next door to the room i have set up in. :D :D still working on my fitness so intervals is the thing at the moment. was 5 x 1000m now working on 4 x 1500m each session. minimum of 4 sessions a week. although with my marathon walk coming up and not able to get out walking due to the carp weather i will be bumping up to 5 or 6 x 1500 each session from this week
will be doing the dog days this month to get 100km minimum for the month as well.
should have got my own erg years ago... what a waste of time

Great stuff! It’s nice when you’re able to get your fitness back. Keep at it. Never mind the carp weather, skins waterproof;o)
