Re: Brand new SkiErg..clunk noise on double/single poling
Hi Woobles,
Just seen your post and I was wondering if you had managed to resolve the problem with noise on your Skierg?
Thanks

No, still waiting on the local distributor to find what the next course of action is. They are in contact with concept2.

Hi,
Thanks for your reply.
I am also experiencing an issue with my skierg and I was wondering if it’s a distinct ‘double knock’ when you are pull down (pole) on the right side?
Thanks

Re: Brand new SkiErg..clunk noise on double/single poling
The noise is during the initial pull down of the cable and once again when I stop pulling in the downward direction (I.e. at the end of the drive). The noise is mainly from the right hand side of the pulley.
Ive sent them a video Clip of the machine in use.

Thank you for your message and video clip.
I have exactly the same issue with my Skierg.
I hope that you manage to get it resolved soon.
Best wishes

Re: Brand new SkiErg..clunk noise on double/single poling
Seadog, I joined the forums right after seeing all three pages of this thread. I have the same issue with my SkiErg. Disappointing- I have all three machines and this is the only one with an issue. Same clunk- you can feel it more than hear it when you're on it... but take the panel off and you hear it loud and clear anywhere in the house. Lots of emails with Josh- no resolution. Wave washer done, no change. I will try this strip piece for a fix, once I see if it's just one or both bearings. Glad I found this thread, but it looks like C2 must know by now there is a problem with this machine. You can tell most C2 owners have no problem working with their machines (the fact you can do the work yourself, along with the quality of C2s are the strongest selling points to me)... why not do some tests in-house and then roll out the solution to Skierg owners to finally fix this?
Re: Brand new SkiErg..clunk noise on double/single poling
I've had the slight clunking noise on my SkiErg since I got it last October. Nothing horribly loud, but it was there. I've read through this post and thought I'd get around to dealing with it sooner or later--it was like an itch I couldn't scratch. I finally called C2, talked to a support rep, and he sent me out an "axle cap washer." I was skeptical it would work, but after a 5 minute install, the clunk is gone.
If you look at the "Manuals and Schematics" page on the C2 website (https://www.concept2.com/service/skierg ... schematics), you'll see "Axle Cap Washer Installation" listed last under "SkiErg 2 Repair Sheets." This part is not shown on the SkiErg schematics, so it must be the fix they came up with. It worked for me anyway.
Good luck.

When all you have is a Laser Interferometer Gravitational-Wave Observatory, everything starts to look like two black holes colliding.

Re: Brand new SkiErg..clunk noise on double/single poling
I just bought a brand new skierg and was very startled when I heard the noise at the beginning and the finish of each stroke.
I thought something must be broken inside.
I mounted it at the wall and you can clearly hear the clunks 3 floors below.
This situation is unacceptable and the skierg unfortunately unusable.
Luckily I found this forum.
So now I have to call c2 and ask for the fix.
But I think they had enough time to solve this problem.
