Welcome, Elizabeth! Truly awesome result in this month's CTC challenge. You are quite the athlete, and we are lucky to have you on our team. I think you are going to have a permanent seat in our #1 boat :-)

Hi Elizabeth. Welcome aboard. Marco is right on point that you got the chops for boat 1‼️ I still think you’ll get recruited by other teams in CTC. In the meantime get to know the Flyers.

Welcome aboard, Elizabeth. Great effort in the CTC! Impressive! We hope you'll be here for many future challenges.

New team tournament started today...March 15 - April 15. Let's go! James is already rowing off into the distance....started with a "mere" 50,000 meters...it is Day 1 and I am already a week behind him :-)

Hello! I just joined the Forum Flyers for the CTC, and thought I'd take a moment to introduce myself. My name is Elizabeth. I enjoy a variety of athletic pursuits, including running, strength training, and backpacking. I bought a Concept2 for some cross-training options about a year ago, and really started using it as my primary form of exercise following a running injury in the fall. I've been loving it. I've been loosely following Pete's Plan in the wee hours of the morning. I started participating in virtual 2ks in January, and am talking with a local club about joining their Learn to Row program this spring.

I'm not typically very active online, but I am good for meters in team challenges, as well as trying my best for timed pieces. I just logged 7801m for the CTC (done Saturday) and rowed a 18:46.9 5k today for the International Women's Day Challenge.

Anyway, I look forward to rowing with all of you!
Hello, looked up your rankings, those are not to Shabby. Very nice efforts. You are, the fastest Forum flyer female in history B)

Getting close to a sub 7 2k, at 1.80 72kg.

Hello Henry. Hope no MAD rush to lure our new member away but it wouldn’t surprise me. :? I miss Freddy Hancock. Brought some welcome youthful enthusiasm along with the speed!

Hi Jack, going well?,

Been away for a while. When I left he was on his way to olympic level. At least what he was posting, never actually seen him perform though.

Double thoughts about the lure. If someone really goes into racing, maybe a topteam is not such a bad spot.

I've been off the forum for a while so I missed this when you posted. Then when I entered a CTC score I saw yours and WOW!

Welcome aboard!

When I retired at age almost-71 I joined Community Rowing in Boston to learn how to row on the water. I'm still at it more than three years later. I'd definitely recommend that you follow through with joining a Learn to Row program. It's great.

We still have a fast LWT male in the name of Jon - he's a young master, great OTW rower and shows up occasionally to post a top 30 score. With his effort this month and the great efforts of our HWTs and Elizabeth (Hello!) the FFs would be on the podium. And I think we're even better at the shorter stuff

Hi Henry, good to see you back, and all the best for the near future.

For myself, going along particularly slowly, terrible start to the year in health, life and circumstance - can only get better from here so hope to get some regular training in soon.

Thank you all for the warm welcome! I'm strongest at the longer stuff - I found the Concept2 Sprint 1000m earlier this month to be just brutal. My lungs burnt for hours after. My pacing was a bit of a mess, though.

Just checked to see how we were doing on this month's C2 Challenge. There is some type of glitch. When I last looked, we had floated 4 or 5 boats. Now we have none (only two partials)! We lost the scores for all of our female rowers and most of the males. I am going to re-enter Linda and my scores to see if they stick.

PS: Maybe we can blame the Diamonds for overloading the system :-)

If your score was deleted in the March C2CTC Challenge, you need to re-enter. There is discussion elsewhere on the message board about the problem and potentially giving people a few days to re-enter their times. I re-entered Linda and my score without a problem.

Very timely headsup on the ctc cockup and data loss this month, Marc. Liz Gilmore, if you are monitoring, hope you can add your result as I believe the grace period for March entries suggested by Joe Heaton in the comp subforum is generous.

Thanks for the heads-up Marc. I re-entered my March score this morning and we are back to having 3 boats afloat.

We are still missing some folks as I know we had 5 full boats at one point (probably was Tuesday morning when last I looked).

Folks have until April 9 to re-enter March data.

Anna Rae

P.S. I am NOT looking forward to the April challenge. I have never rowed at a stroke rate that high but I will give it a try.
