Cross Team Challenge - Discussion Thread
Re: Cross Team Challenge - Discussion Thread
Ron Peterson of Club Row Crew has communicated the April Challenge:
Rhythm Row
3 min 27 SPM
1 min Rest
3 min 30 SPM
1 min Rest
3 min 33 SPM
1 min Rest
3 min 30 SPM
1 min Rest
3 min 27 SPM
Standing Starts
They have decided to go with an honour system and ask that rowers try to stick to these stroke rates. There are no penalties for missing the target rates but rowers are asked not to submit entries if they miss by a significant margin. For me that means that +/- one SPM on each interval is ok but any rows with greater deviations should not be entered.
Regards,
Joe

Before anyone comments. Yes, I know the CTC is totally screwed.
I've sent a tweet to Daren. Can someone nudge him on the Faceborg.

Re: Cross Team Challenge - Discussion Thread
It's good to see the CTC site open to recent and new entries. Hopefully, the database will be restored so that earlier results are included. Failing this, my opinion is that rowers should be given a substantial time, say a week, to enter their distances again. We're on the final day of the March CTC so it would be difficult to achieve this by the usual cut-off time.
The April CTC could be running with logging deferred for a period.

Joe

I will leave the March CTC open for new entries, but we both know that folks are going to enter their March results for the April CTC (especially since both CTCs are distance events).joe80 wrote: ↑March 31st, 2022, 4:29 amIt's good to see the CTC site open to recent and new entries. Hi Dougie,
Your solution communicated on Twitter seems the best way to deal with this problem.
As I understand it, the April CTC will go ahead as usual from noon tomorrow. There's an archived site http://c2ctc.com/index.php?c_id=211 for entering missing results for March should they not be logged on the main site before the switch in months.
Shall we give ten days for the missing results to be logged before finalising the March CTC? That should give enough time for admins to prod their rowers into resubmitting distances.
If this seems sensible, is it OK to put it on the facebook site where, understandably, there's some anxiety and confusion?

Joe

Re: Cross Team Challenge - Discussion Thread
I was going to give them up to Midnight on my birthday (which is on day 99 this year).
Re: Cross Team Challenge - Discussion Thread
D'accord! I make that midnight April 9. Is it OK to write this as a definite plan on facebook?

It looks like the table with all of the result records got screwed up. What is the table definition? I could probably create a script to repopulate it correctly.

Re: Cross Team Challenge - Discussion Thread
I wrote a bad piece of SQL that set every entry from forever to user_id=1 and Daren doesn't have a backup of the database.
If you want a copy of the broken database PM me with an email address.

Re: Cross Team Challenge - Discussion Thread
I have entered a result for Jonty Eyres (Isenhurst Rowers) on the March results which was meant for the April challenge. Would you mind deleting it for me please? Many thanks

Re: Cross Team Challenge - Discussion Thread
I've got the database recovered up to Oct 2016 (from a copy I found). I'll work on the stuff Gregory Cook sent me tomorrow to fix challenges 141 onwards.
