I like the harder and faster styles of electronic music.
My track for the first 2k TT was this one and it is very good representing the style I like when it comes to older tracks from the 90s: Jam and Spoon's Hands on yello - You gotta say yes to another access
That's a good track for a 2k.
Definitely - it gets you going 😄👌🏻

For the longer distances or other trainings which take longer I have many tracks to play. Some harder, some less, but all of them help going through the session 👍🏻

I have to pick slow songs when I row or none at all. If I have a faster song on or one with a good beat I close my eyes and get lost in the music. When the song ends and I open my eyes I can see that I have exceeded my HR limit and I gotta slow my pace to get my HR back under the limit. If it wasn't for my pesky HR limits I would listen to Dobie Gray's advice and Drift Away :-) I rowed my 24th 10K today. I have never rowed a 10 K before this challenge. This is a cool challenge and i hope that the rest of the group is doing well. I imagine that Holly is racking up the meters in her team challenge now that she has recovered from COVID

When I rode motorcycles I listened to tikal, I think he made two albums both of which I have, great for riding to and coincidentally good pace for rowing too 👍😊

And Mr pink

https://youtu.be/loaRmA3uLaM
Tikal mixed up electronic music and films this one from reservoir dogs. He would have been more successful had it not been for endless copyright infringement 😂
And the fact that he was french.

Yes Ive put in 40,000 metres this week, I had planned a half marathon, but I missed my opportunity this weekend. I'm at work for the next two, then I'm going to try mid week to get it in.

Hey Holly62,
Just catching up and glad your fit and back on it, your times in general are pretty darn good really - certainly the 5k and HM.
I am getting ready for the April Fools challenge and HM in May, set up a donate page on the BHF site for charity.
Thanks for the inspiration.

Another 10k to the good, feeling great.
I can't imagine inspiring anyone from here, my times are the best that they've ever been and I'm sixty.
When I'm rowing I just drift off with the music, and I don't feel like I'm doing anything at all. The only comparison I have is myself, these stents sure do us the world of good. My cardiologist describes the process as resetting the heart, and I guess that's true to a degree.
In the future as materials improve we'll be able to have stents at a much younger age to correct minor problems at much younger ages.

Question, should we have our own team on the concept 2,and if so what should we call ourselves..
Food for thought eh.. 👍😊
Did anyone else see this and think it was a great idea? :?:

The last week or so have been week to keep rowing at times, but with four days left to row I only need to hit 10km on three of them to complete the advanced challenge. That's pretty amazing and seems totally achievable.

Special thanks to Holly for starting this thread. At the start of the month I thought that committing to the advanced challenge seemed ridiculous. In the end. looks like all I needed was the confidence to keep trying each day.

Is anyone else starting to think about the April Fool's challenge? It starts out with low requirements that sound easy, but requires 15 days without missing a session and has some really big rows slated for the end!

Keep on rowing Edward, you are almost there and you should be able to do your 25.. I was able to row my 25th 10K this morning :-) Holly thank you for challenging by example. I would never even tried to row a 10K until after reading some of your posts. I was going to be content to stay in the 5K group.

I have all the gorilla albums, and laika come home is one of my favourites, for a chilled Friday evening, and g sides, lovely but not for rowing 😂.
Hembree- It's A Dream. I'd say that this is somewhere between Gorillaz, !!! (if you don't know them, this is a band, and they're referred to as Chk Chk Chk) and LCD Soundsytem.

!!! are well worth listening to and 'Shake The Shudder', 'Wallop', 'As If' & 'Thriller' are probably their best. If they tour, go and see them live. Absolutely superb.

I'll have a listen, the gorillaz left me wanting more, so it will be an interesting experience dangerscouse, thank you..

Well that's my march Completed, looking back its been a memorable month..

Apart from covid, again, I rowed 95 thousand metres, and did three weeks of work, my first efforts in nearly a year, completed my competencies and updates, and I've never felt so fit.

Thanks for spurring me on, it's been an amazing march, what can we do next, to keep this great feeling going, it's just been amazing 👍😊

I'd also highly recommend the Avalanches 'We Will Always Love You' album. It's a similar style to Gorillaz.

Thank you, I seemed to have stopped listening to music until I started on the concept 2, and now I listen to it all the time, although I find, the average radio 1 tune just a noise, I sound like my dad 😂

You've reached an age when, if Terry Wogan were still alive, you'd be signing up as a TYG or TOG.

Hi everyone! Edward once told me to come to this forum where you all keep it real, so checking in here! I was going for the march madness challenge and did 5 meters yesterday and today along with a WOD. I don't think I want to conquer a 10,000 meter daily as I have only quit smoking last Sunday and just perfecting my row form and proper breathing, each day is getting better, but long ways to go to get the lungs cleared out. I have been able to get a few rankings on the board which I'm happy about 🙂 and hopefully each row will advance me further the longer I stay at it. I think you can see my stats but not sure. Anyway always looking for tips and help wherever possible and motivation as well. Have a night shift tonight and not off til noon so won't be so perky tomorrow!

Its a tough challenge to train 6 days a week if you are just starting out. THe most important thing is to get your technique as good as possible before you ingrain errors. I know because my technique is terrible, but after 20Mm I can only improve a bit and will always have poor technique!

If you are brave, I recommend filming yourself from the side and posting so that those who know much more than me can comment. Congratulations on giving up smoking and look to see your progress.
56, lightweight in pace and by gravity. Currently training 3-4 times a week after a break to slowly regain the pitiful fitness I achieved a few years ago. Free Spirit, come join us http://www.freespiritsrowing.com/forum/

Thanks for your comment. I now totally agree that maybe 6 days a week with straight 5000m rows may be to much? I don't know if I broke up it up into intervals to give my lungs a break in between would be better or not. But am very tired of last few days and dreading the thought of rowing. But I also go walking after my morning rows from 9 -12km and do some strength training as well. Maybe I just need to make a schedule for each day of the week and stick to that for a while. Hard to breathe doing all this stuff and just tired.

Also my form is good. I was warned about this when I first got my rower and came on here. I've watched the videos to make sure I would be rowing correctly to support my core, arms and back and always make it a priority when rowing to focus on my rowing technique and having my core engaged at all times. And believe me I feel it! My abs are barking at me!
