Covid really sucks. I am out for 4 weeks now and this is not the end
Get well soon! Hopefully it will not take such a long time for you...

Oh no! Just catching up and saw Holly's note. That's rough news, and definitely out of your control. Rest, and hopefully you'll be better soon!
I agree with others who say you are an inspiration, and I'm looking forward to seeing you healthy and rowing again before long.

Hi Holly! Sorry about Covid, I hope you recover soon and fully. Reading your posts motivated me to follow the mud challenge, thank you very much. We always have a challenge to follow, so don't worry, recover and when you're fine, just pick a new challenge andlet us know, I'm in.
Re: Mud season madness 22
Hi Holly,
I hope that you are feeling better and can post here again soon. It looks like you were the main reason for the rest of us posting. I have 14 - 10 K's in so far and today I rowed on my normal skip day. I may have to take a trip to Boston to see my new grandson (born 2/22/22) so I have to row solid until I know my travel plans. We are waiting for the new parents to develop a routine before we head east. We typically stay at their house instead of a hotel so we are waiting for them to get nice and sleep deprived before we offer to head over to babysit so they can get some sleep. Typically it is a 4 day trip and I already used 2 rest days so I just have to row each day to give me a chance to complete the challenge. If I don't it's not the worst thing. I will admit that I have noticed an improvement in my times when rowing 10K's instead of my normal 6K's. The extra 20 minutes of sweating helps

I'm doing the 10k per day. Seems as if we're allowed to break it up, so I've been cheating a bit and including warm-up meters as part of the effort.
My programming has me doing some intervals at mid & top tier, and I don't want to go off-track just for the sake of the challenge.
For example, tomorrow's plan is to just row 2 reps of 10 minutes at what I hope will be my 5k pace. That'll put me over 5k, so I have to squeeze in another 5k or so in the warm-up and the cool down. It's more warm-up & cool down than I need, really, but I'll be watching the tv during this part, so it'll go quickly.

Oh dear Holly62,Holly62 wrote: ↑March 10th, 2022, 2:39 pmWell that's me well and truly down, covid positive, I must have been exposed over the weekend, despite changing aprons gloves and masks between patients.
So here we go snakes and ladders again, play the hand I'm dealt. I have to get to a negative state, then start building my fitness again, cancelled my dental, rescheduled for two weeks. I need to get my cardiologists permission to stop blood thinners whilst they deal with a couple of extractions before I get the last stent and another year on blood thinners, I hope it's not going to be as tight as it sounds....
You're all doing really well, it's just not my year, next year I'll be fine.
so sorry to hear this as you have inspired a few on here to take up the Mud challenge and now cannot complete yourself. I hope you are not too ill with it and get a clear test soon. I had a dental extraction last year and did not have to stop taking my blood thinners but after saying that I am only on low dose Aspirin for that after my triple bypass, really happy I did not get put on that Warfarin stuff. Take care and rest up, you have inspired me to attempt the April fools challenge next month if I can secure use of a C2E for 15 days straight at a local gym - mine closes on a Tues & Sat.

Re: Mud season madness 22
Right im back and feeling fit again, obviously there is no way I can complete the mud madness now.
I'm just going to make a start and see how far I get, after twelve days there is dust on my Rower..... Oh the absolute humiliation of it all....
Oh well onwards and upwards, I can do little else, it's a lovely day here in sunny Wales, I'm going to try for a steady 5k, see if I can breathe through it.

Well that's 5k, not bad, bit shakey and wheezy...
25:26 sec
Which by some insanity is a new personal best, I've impressed myself.
Work tomorrow then I'm off for three days, time to get stuck in.
That's my third rodeo with covid, apparently all the protective equipment we wear on our unit gives us about 30% more protection than walking around naked, not a pretty sight I assure you
I feel much better now I've rowed, more centered, more determined.
Some of you guys are really going for it, come on...

Thank you Ray, I feel so much better, covid doesn't just hit your body, it makes you emotionally low as well, anyone that's had this awful virus, will back me up on that.
I feel that this time because I was as fit as possible, my recovery was much quicker, and my mood and determination rebounded really swiftly.
So I've bounced straight onto this year's world erg team challenge. With one 5k row I'm 71out of 82 in my team, and being highly competitive I've got to chase a top ten spot on general principle .
I see you're doing really well on the mud madness Ray... Go Ray woooo hoooo

10k today, so I'm glad to report that although this covid varient made me feel really rubbish, I'm back on 10k rows without anything lingering or residual weakness.. Phew.
Anyway I'm carrying on to see how many 10ks I can get done in March and use that number as my target to beat next year.
Feeling good... I'll go through the thread to see how many are on target to get the mud madness certificate, well earned..

While I didn't expect to complete the challenge, I'm currently on track to do so, with 16 days with at least 10k in the 20 days so far in March.

Hey! I just noticed your improving so fast your latest 5k pace is better than your current 2k PB pace. I think you have a 2k PB in your future
I’m still on track for the 10k challenge. Thanks for motivating me to do it. I just have to avoid Covid for 8 more days…

Hi Holly,
It;s great to hear that you have bounced back so quickly and are back doing 10K's. I am sure that you will catch up on your contest and be in the top 10. If you weren't competitive you would still be resting up. I am up to 19 - 10 K's so I am within reach unless I get breathed on by the wrong person. I just booked my trip to Boston in early April so I can take my Wednesdays off again.
