Training

Post by [old] ASpeidell » December 7th, 2005, 6:47 pm

Hey,
My coach (and others) have recommended that I do some anaerobic threshold training and I'm ready to take the challenge. The only problem is that what he reccomends for the /500 split is +/- a specific number off of my 10k/6k/or 2k goal. Whenever I do a workout at the pace he suggests, it feels way too easy, and I'm thinking that this is not the anaerobic threshold I need to be at. Is there any other way to calculate an AT point? I don't mind if it is in watts, calories, or /500. Thanks guys.

P.S. I'm thinking about buying the Rowpro software. Anyone out there that can offer commets on it? Thanks

Where did you find it?

In training we never bothered with anaerobic threshold testing. The most important for us was finding out if our developement in the aerobic level was improving.

Threshold training was simple, low rates such as 22-24-26 as hard as we could three times 7 minutes, or a pyramid of 19' starting at 18 through 26 and back down etc.

Particulary interesting was the comment at the end of the article. To me the high readings came from too much speed work and not enough aerobic training to compensate the hard work.

XENO
