Today is the International Women's Day Challenge - and already half the designated erg for the money has been earned! To mark International Women's Day, Concept2 will be donating to organizations that promote sport and activity in the lives of women and girls. We will donate $5 for everyone who signs up to the challenge and does a 5000m piece (10,000m for the BikeErg) on March 8, to a maximum total amount of $15,000. There is STILL TIME to do this!
Speaking of international women, the Today show was in the background this AM...at least it was until I heard a Ukranian woman being interviewed about the bombing, and the trauma it brings. Destruction everywhere, and here's what she had to say:
"We are bombed every day, every night and nonstop. You know, sometimes we have an hour or two of quiet time. (Sounds of mortar) Sorry, it's bombing. Enjoy what you have, enjoy peace, it's really valuable. Don't take for granted what you have now, because it's so vulnerable." Those who experience deep loss due to other disasters and situations would probably echo those words, but they are my take to the heart words for the day.

Behold the skateboard rack! I was in Colorado Springs at Colorado College for a safety conference today. I had never seen a skateboard rack, but there it was just outside of the cafeteria. And, that's also why the posting is a bit later.

Well, it was obscure! When Minnie aka Chris T logs a lot of meters, I say “hula hula” because she likes the Hawaiian themed atta girl. You logged a lot of meters and I wrote mega mega in the same spirit of way to go!

Woohoo! The thermometer is going up past 25F today! Hallelujah! Almost to dog walking temperature! Have to think of the pads on their feet when venturing out into the frozen tundra, because putting little boots on them is a dog fight almost as much as a compression sock. I knew you'd understand. Meanwhile, colder temperatures are making it much easier to hit the erg time inside!
We're in a multi-Challenge season with the March Mudness Challenge, and now World Erg Challenge starts on Tuesday. Happily the same erg meters can count for both Challenges! The World Erg Challenge is a team challenge, though, and you need to scroll across your logbook to the Teams section, and then down to World Erg Challenge to join. Get onboard! All meters are good meters!

Just a reminder....Monday is pi day....
Mudseason is a long and challenging type of messy season...and now with a third of the Challenge completed, it may feel that way, too! Still, it is a great time of year to get outside to some of your state parks and see who and what are building nests. Bear Creek Lake Park is a state park near Morrison CO, and well used by naturalists, walkers, runners, bicyclists and photographers. John Meyer, a reporter for the Denver Post, interviewed several regular users of the park for an article published today, and the article evokes quite the mental picture:
"When Clint Boston goes for a run at dusk in a densely wooded riparian corridor at Bear Creek Lake Park, a creek setting that is cherished by local nature lovers, he'll often notice owls coming out to accompany him. "I've had so many amazing owl encounters," Boston said. "They are flying right by you as you're running, almost as excited to see you as you are them."
Its peaceful setting is a place of refuge, an immersion into a different world. Our erging is an important part of helping us stay healthy and fit. Perhaps just as, and sometimes more important is finding settings that renew us.

PS - Hope all went well with the arrival of your newest grandchild!
Yes, thank you. He, and his family are all doing well. (It was hectic to be sure around here, as our youngest daughter's engagement party was just a couple days after he was born, so we had to leave before the party was over to get to the airport in time to make it to his circumcision party.)
