I'm not sure how Alaska Dan gets some of his photos - but this one is from the Oro Valley area, just north of Tucson proper. Dan says there are three eggs - just like last year. A good photo of the nesting and something many of us don't get to see. Pretty sure it's a closer to the ground nest, but wouldn't put tree climbing for a photo past the photographer...

The traveling javelina mini-herd was on the move through the neighborhood again last night. I think they know the trash pickup schedule better than the human residents (learned not to wheel the bins out any days early). Had ONE lonely bloom on a potted plant out in front, and the weak eyed javelina sniffed it out....and ate it. They also knocked over the planter while they were snorting around. Different wildlife in this suburb for sure.
March Mudness ....put erging on your daily calendar...maybe you'll win stuff!!

It's been a pretty good season. Never would have been so without the great support of the LUNA-TICS Team - and the untiring daily encouragement of our intrepid leader and her success in motivating our accomplishments. Thank you, @Kona2 !
I hear the hoofbeats rapidly approaching, so the season is by no means over...

The thing about a snow covered landscape is that it isn't a dark and stormy night. It lights up the backyard like a full moon...only better. The extra lumens bring lots of critters into view, and the K9 sentinels are on the lookout for barking opportunities. Temperatures are hovering in the single digits, slipping into the minuses - and watching from the relative warmth of a sliding glass door (with the drapery as their "cape"), the K9s are almost convinced that they had outside time. Almost. A short time ago, a fox cruising by on the other side of the fence provided explosions of a joyous chorus of "we see something!" barking. I missed the K9s during my Tucson time.
I captured the numbers a bit later in the day - had to shovel snow (and make the choice of shovel over erg today!). I am sorry if I missed anyone's 22,222 palindrome that might have been combined with today's erging session - thus being an embiggerated number! I don't know if embiggerated is really a word, but the guy who does the Bizarro comic strip seems to believe it is.

Embiggerated is a perfectly cromulent word. Our terrier does the same thing by the sliding doors in the back. He uses his nose to flip aside the curtain and he stares off into His Domain. He generally only growls though - barks are reserved for 11PM trips outside to go to the bathroom / yell at the animals in the pond.

I'm getting back in the saddle to train for RAGBRAI XLIX!
Due to a case of tendinitis in my right forearm, I'm thinking about swapping the handle bars on the BikeErg for something a little more ergonomic. Has anybody here done that, and with any success?
I imagine it shouldn't be too difficult to find a bar with the right diameter and mount it. I'm more curious about how I can cheaply put on 'fake' brakes + hoods, to give the same riding experience I have on my road bike. Thoughts on this?

Zach - I bet the Concept2 people have had this conversation about handlebars etc before! Give them a call (and let us know what they say!).

March Mudness...arriving soon at an erg near you!
The Details: https://log.concept2.com/challenges/mud-season-madness
How Lunies Celebrate March Mudness ....
Seems that each year, we have at least ONE Lunie who wins a prize from the random drawings! Even better, we have a lot of participation. Many of us start out with the 10 K aspiration, and sometimes slide into the 5 K list...but it's ALL good, no matter what amount you erg! Hope to see a LOT of pot of gold participants!
The 5K is a shamrock designation
The 10K is a pot of gold! Virtual naturally.
