As per the title really.
I’ve been off the rower for several months due to health issues and have recently got back in the seat.
And that’s the issue.
How much play should the seat have? I can rock the seat left to right in hand and when rowing this movement translates into a fair bit of noise unless I get back position just so in the seat.
I certainly do don’t recall having this issue before I stopped rowing.
There was a tiny bit of play in bolt/nut on the front and back roller which I’ve nipped up but still exhibiting the ‘rock’.
How much play is normal/expected then if anyone can answer.
Rower only has 500k use so I’d expect bearings/rollers to still be healthy at this point. Machine kept clean and rail wiped down and dried after each use.
Thanks.

There's supposed to be some play in the seat rollers. Few millimetres either side of the rail.

Yep...but only about 2mm or less on mine. It rocks if I try, but I've never had it rock whilst in use. My guess is you're somehow not balanced when seated and/or there's an odd movement you're doing during the stroke. Try running back and forth on the seat without holding the handle. If that's steady, then pick up the handle and add sections of your stroke stroke one at a time (just legs, legs and swing, legs swing arms) and see at what point it starts to rock...

Cheers both.
It was more than a couple of mm I’d say but since nipping up the slight bolt play it’s better.
And it could well be technique being slightly off after me being off. I will keep my eye on things.
