I prefer the old concept ergo to the new one. I absolutely hate the knew grip and shape of the handle, and the way the screen is set out!

What are all ur other opinions?

Well I prefer the Model D handle. In fact now when I use the erg at the Y which has an old style handle if I'm not careful I bruise my sternum because I pull back a little farther from using the D handle on my home machine.

I have a both a PM2+ and PM3 display mounted on my model C and I invariably use the PM2+. Just seems to work more smoothly especially when using RowPro.

Frank

I'm sticking with my PM2+ and model C. I might switch the handlebar because that is bugging me. I like erow and it's free. I haven't tried rowpro so maybe it has good things in it but I'm also not tempted to bother to try it because I have what I need already.

The only upgrade I'd consider is a robot that drags my butt out of bed at 5 am and marches it into my exercise room and makes me sit down. I think that's the model E and should be out soon.

Lisa

Much prefer the model C, erging on the model C feels as if youre doing something, erging on the model D doesnt, and the handle is so bloody annoying.
Loved the Model A, but when the B came out it felt too light. Then loved the model B (it made a particularly satisfying sound), and when the C came out I hated the seats and it felt too light. I was thrilled to be able to do online stuff with the PM2+, also. With the help of a butt pad the seat is no longer a problem, and osteoarthritis has helped me understand the virtues of the lighter feel and using lighter settings.

Haven't spent much time on the D, but really like the new handle and monitor (retrofitted to a Model C) and am very happy with RowPro. My dislike of the seat aside (and I realize many folks like the Model C/D seat), it seems like CII has done a really nice job with the evolution of the erg.

I'm very, very glad to hear that the forthcoming model E will have a robot to drag my lazy rear out of bed - it's the perfect improvement! Maybe it could also be programmed to standy by the erg and make the same "Voooooom" sound as the model B.

I have only used a Model D at the Golden State IRC so admittedly have limited experience but did not like it as much as my Model C which I love. The display was confusing and the machine felt light to me. Being a gadget geek I must admit that some of the display features (which I did not have time to check out) looked appealing and I might look into upgrading some day

john

I have a C with a PM3 and new handle.
Handle is a big big improvement, PM3 is ok, but so was the PM2+, so no preference on display.
Used a D a few times and it's fine.
But no point upgrading to a D when you can get a new handle for the C for £15.

I've had my model B since '87 and though I haven't used the newer models I have upgraded the B with the foot straps (much better than originals), Model D handle (I like it more than the original, it feels more natural to me), got the PM2 then then the PM3 (never tried the 2+ but I like having the use of RowPro.) I have a tray, the Jotto laptop holder, mounted on the top of the cage so the 'puter is directly in front of me while ergging. Works well. I tried to get the extension that the new ones have to extend the monitor closer to me but C2 says it won't fit. Overall I'm very happy with the newer components than I was with the original unit.

I have a model C which I like, it's in good shape and I'm used to those, moniter, handle etc. at the Y they have a D which I use because their model C was never taken care of... the chain is so squeaky, but it's weird how smoothe the D feels, it feels like I'm doing less work or have less drag or something even when I turn up the damper higher... which brings me to what's the equivelent of rowing at setting 5 on a C to a D, the 5 on a D feels easier, maybe it's just me. Also at at school we have these two really horrible model B's that are tippier than boats, they are in the crappiest shape, if you have long legs or are just sliding on the seat as a cool down or something you slide right off the back of the machine. The monitors don't work but I actually like that handle better than model D... I hate- no despise the handle on that machine, it's too "sticky" at first then as you sweat it's too "slippery", why can't they just simulate the oar handles-- they're more comfortable, the ones with the blue handle and the lines for texture grip.

Oh well enough complaining and picking out the worst of each machine, I guess to answer the question I like the C.
~Sara~

I have a Model C and I have used a D at the YMCA.

Here's what I like about the C:
1) color scheme (subdued - nice for a residential setting)
2) the PM2 (simple and functional)
3) the aesthetics of the solid wooden handle
4) the metal flywheel housing (seems more substantial than thermoplastic)

Here's what I like about the D:
1) color scheme (flashier - nice for a modern gym setting)
2) quieter
3) the ergonomics of the new handle
4) the damper adjustment handle (more integrated)

Overall, they are very similar and the differences are minor and not really functional considerations for the most part. In fact, aesthetically, I think the Model B is the best as it has a no-frills, industrial look and roaring flywheel which are not so bad in a boathouse.
I like the c handles. I like to rotate the handle and feel the torque against my wrists as it rotate to pull free.

I like the model C. I have been on a D a couple of times . Dont like the handle its just too diffrents (it messed me up on a race just resently). Also the D feels to light and I fly and die.
But I'll get used to it

Age : 16
HWeight @ 79 killos
500m @ 1:38
1000m @ 3:28
2000@ 7:16
"im a work in progress"
