The Two Towel Trick

Not talking about marathon time in the erg seat, but ice, baby, ice! As a rule, Colorado doesn't get the kinds of ice storms that bedevil other parts of the US. And maybe that's why when they happen, we aren't very good at managing our transport during them. Today being trash day, I had to get the bin from the garage to the curbside. One step onto the inclined driveway, and wahoo - this was not going to be possible. Well, the bin could surely get there on its own at the rate of speed it wanted to slide. Enter the wisdom (one of many bits) from the maintenance guys in Virginia. The sidewalks near a hospital were so slick that everyone was doing a smackdown reminiscent of wrestling matches. A maintenance guy gives a shout over to the nurses trying to get into the hospital to hang on, he'd bring something to help them. He brought a couple of towels...and instructed them to walk on the towels, pick em up and walk further until they got into the building. And so it was that two "dog towels" were deployed down the driveway this AM. Worked quite well here too. Normally I would have Yaktrax or something similar these days, but sometimes at oh dark thirty you don't remember where the heck you last had them...

A “special 8’s” palindrome from me in memory of my wonderful mother-in-law of 44 years, who passed away Wednesday about two weeks shy of her 93rd birthday. She will be greatly missed.

i am back... i will putz around with little small session rows until i trust my neck to not be a nuisance. found some stretches and strengthening exercises that make me nearly pain free... until i sit at my computer for too long

Will just do 2000 meters... sometimes more than once a day with an emphasis on form and keeping my attention on my neck to make sure to minimize strain...

if i can stop myself from doing it sooner will move to 3000 meters in next week... and begin to ramp on to 5000.

I think I will maybe not attempt to go over 5000... But I still have half a marathon and marathons to complete... But i will be more patient

and continue to grind down this stupid milli baby
